We deserve a lot and should get some recognition from this country like the blacks and mexicans do.

Single-mom's day. Seperate from Mother's day.

Well, it is a major issue ,but it does not have as much of a reason in which that should have a recognized day. As for fighting for independence, women rights, civil leaders and etc. Do not get me wrong it is a very serious issue ,but the media or cabinet members do not find it as serious.

All your questions are whiney.

What makes you so damn special that you deserve a 'single moms' day?

Blacks have their own day because they overcame oppression. They were held captive and underwent horibble things in the south. Nothing comparable to being a single mom!

You spread your legs, you got a baby without the man. Why should you be celebrated? If you want to celebrate, there is Mother's Day.

Mexicans? I believe you are referring to Cinco de Mayo. That is the Mexican Independance day just like our July 4. I thought you were a student? Where do you go to school that you don't learn this stuff?

With people like you this country is going to hell in a hand basket.

Young people who think the world owes them something. It owes you a good slap on the butt - which your parents should have done a long time ago. Perhaps, if they did, you wouldn't have ended up a single young mother in the first place.

Mothers Day doesnt distinguish between single or married mothers. If you had a kid, Mother's Day is your day.

What I want to know is, why isnt there a day for CHILDLESS MEN and WOMEN? We pay taxes for schools we get no benefit from. Taxes for welfare for all those SINGLE MOMS who couldnt keep their legs together. "We deserve a lot" you wrote. Why? Because you could have sex with a man but not find him fit enough to help raise and pay for his child? You want recognition and respect? Send that Welfare check back to me, I need the money too.

And since when Mexicans get a day? If youre referring to Cinco de Mayo, thats a MEXICAN holiday, not an American one.

I'm a single mother and I suppose they feel like Mother's day is sufficient. I also agree with one of the others response. I mean it will begin to get ridiculous - whats next - a stay at home mom day and a working mom day. How about A mothers who used to be fathers day.

Oh my lordy. You have got to be kidding me! Lmao!!!! I agree with most of the answers here and I LOVED the Waffle House answer. Too funny.

You know, you are giving hard working single moms a bad name when you expect something extra for taking responsibility for your child. Mother's Day is for ALL mothers.... What would you think of "Adopted Mother's Day" or "Widowed Mother's Day"? We could go on and on. It doesn't matter if you are married or single. No matter what circumstances you are in.....Mother's Day should be enough for you. Maybe you should spend some quality time with your child instead of sitting around stewing about how you are unappreciated.

There are "two" national holidays for single moms. One is called Mothers Day and the other Fathers Day. Peace and Blessings

I agree with mothers day. Alot of times married moms are doing all the work themselves too. And what about single fathers??? should they get a day too? If you are looking for recognition for raising your family, your children should be enough of a reward.

I guess u could say that Mother's Day is kind of like single mom's day, but then single moms are the dads, too. ur right, there should be a single mom's (and dad's) day. while we're busy taking it to the politicians, why don't u pick a day and celebrate w/ur kids? that would be fun.

Mother's Day is for ALL moms as far as I know. Children are the ones who should do something for their mothers, not the husbands, so being single or married does not matter.

Well Mother's day is for all mother's just like father's day is for all fathers. I can't imagine if we had a single mother's day or a single father's day. What if you get married and then your not a single mother anymore?
