how do I tell my girlfriend that I am a cutter?

i'm afraid she'd hate me or think i'm a psycho or sumthin...i'm gettin help for my cutting, but I still think she'd be freaked out

It takes alot of courage to ask the question that you just did. The only way to tell her is just to do it, believe me it'd be worse if she walked in on you cutting. Or starts to notice scars and ask how you got them.
Believe me I know, my biggest problem was hiding the scars. If she loves you she's gonna be there for you while you get help. If not then you're better off without her, you need someone to pick you up not put you down.

Well don't u think! It's very unusual 2 find people doing these things. She might not think u'r a psycho but mayb something else. Why do think she's gonna hate u she might just b a little scared. Well all u need 2 do is find a moment that u think she's in a good mood start hate conversation fairly easy that can go 2 point u want 2 make.

If she cares about u like she says, she would understand and try her very best in helping u with u'r progress for the cure of u'r situation, u know what i mean. Let her speak, see her point of view on the situation and let her tell u how she feels. Let her know she's the one who said she cares about u(no matter what) and it took guts out of u 2 tell her bcause u care.

You need to make sure that you are emotionally ready to tell her. If by telling her you are going to put stress on yourself which may lead to your cutting, then I would hold off. But if you are feeling ready or feel like you must make this move, then maybe you could get some info and literature on it so she could see what your up against and that you are not alone. She may freak out and that will be something that you will have to deal with but on the other hand she may end up being a god support system and someone you can depend on. if she cares about you, she's going to be upset because you're hurting yourself. That's a given.

Being able to talk about it at all is difficult, so I agree with the person who said you need to be emotionally ready yourself to share. Make sure you're in a place where you don't take her reaction personally.
If you feel shame about it make sure you talk to your therapist about it (or whoever you're getting help from) and work through possible scenarios and responses you may receive.

When I've had to share something about myself that scared me, I'd think, "Okay, what's the absolute worst thing that could happen? How would I deal with that?" If I have a plan of action it makes me feel safer.

Remember, too, that you are not alone. There are lots of people who cut who haven't told anyone--perhaps your question here will help someone find the courage to open up to someone who cares.

Be open with her. If she likes you, she will try and help you. Communication is something that is very important in a relationship. Good Luck!! and don't wait, chances are she may already know. My last boyfriend did, and I comfronted him before he told me, and I was hurt that he couldn't be honest with me.

If she really cares about you then she'll be supportive and try and help you but i have to admit most people who dont do that cant relate to it and she might get turned off of you.. gl
