Ah Chick. ROFL!!!! He's the one that put out a pamphlet that claimed witches really do fly on brooms. At one time, some Christians were putting out that the WWW for world wide web, was actually 666 in disguise. These are the people who have a lot of time on their hands and over-active imaginations.

In my humble opinion:
As a very much committed and believing Christian, I have no clue. Computers are one of the best things that Christianity has today.
They allows us to spread the Good News about Christ into countries and to people who would never hear it otherwise. Post something, and it is available world wide. In China were religion is discouraged, in Muslim countries where teaching about Jesus can cost you your life, in liberal university where religion is otherwise mocked and ridiculed, in government offices and schools where "freedom of religion" as used to ban any religious ideas.
They give us access to the Bible in a way that was not possible before. Programs like the free "e-sword" allow you to instantly find any verse in the Bible, compare and contrast, list multiple versions together, and a thousand others things.
Through e-mail, I am able to offer encouragement and support to a friend of mine and his wife who are missionaries oversea. Recently when they had a death in their family, I was able to set a web cam and allow them to be part of the funeral here in Michigan from their church in Argentina.
Through chat rooms, places like Yahoo Answers, etc. I am able to offer information about the Christian faith and why it is valid and relevant to life today.
Oh, and I am able to support my church, and my friend in the mission field through the income I earn as an IT technician, and system administrator during the week.
Yes, there are groups that see only the evil in the Internet -- pornography, on line predators, all kinds of false teachings and ideas, etc. These groups are usually the same people who see only the evil in everything. Which is too bad, because God has put some much good into the world for us if we will let Him open our eyes to it.
They also feel that the Internet will some day be used by the antichrist (also called the beast) to spread his lies and to bring him into world domination. Even if that is true, it isn't happening yet. So until that time, Christians need to be using the Internet and computers instead to get the truth out. So that when the antichrist appears, fewer will be deceived by him.
Instead of fighting the Internet, which is just a way of passing information, as Christian we need to be fighting the deception and evil that is being spread on it, and presenting the truth.
(Thanks for taking the time to read this much too long posting)

Computers, especially those with internet access, aid everyone. Everyone. Good and bad. While Christians are using the internet to spread the word of God, pedophiles are at the very same time and on the very same internet stalking their prey. Christians and other benevolent groups collect and distribute money, food, clothing, aid, and other necessities on a global scale with the help of the internet because of the increased speed and efficiency that the internet offers. Meanwhile, terrorists use that same internet to coordinate their activities. Everything we have can be used for good or bad. There are radicals all over the religious spectrum who firmly believe that if anything is used for what they consider bad, it should be banned. Radical Christians and radical followers of Islam are some of the biggest offenders when it comes to this kind of irrational thinking.

Depends on the christian and what his or her pastor has been telling them about the bible. If you ever have seen some of the shows on TV preaching about end time that are come. Many of these TV shows have computer web sites that tell more about what is going to happen in those days when the anti-christ will rule the earth. So I don't think that computers are the evil they are just like tv and telephones away of communicating with people that is all.

I've read that pamphlet by Chick Publications. It was written in the 1970s. Although I believe that computers will aid the Antichrist in achieving economic control of the world, computers are not "evil" in and of themselves.
Hey, I'm using one now!

I consider myself a christian, and i love my computer. Does that make me bad, or am i not a true christian? I think that cartoon's author is wrong, don't read it anymore. If the cartoon is sending out messages that are bias to the authors own opinions, it is not worth reading. Honestly I am not sure about what the 'rules' are to be a christian. But I am sure that it doesn't mean you have to hate computers! My Lutheran church uses computers daily, they even has their own website: http://www.superiorwi.com/oursaviors/index.html
and every office person has their own email address. I would follow your gut, go with what feels good, Go with God

I don't think computers themselves are really a problem for Christians, but really the Internet.
Because probably half the Internet's total bandwidth is used for downloading porn or for some other sort of sexual gratification (chat rooms, etc.), plus easy availability of information many feel harmful to children and/or families in general, not to mention predators and scammers, I think some people think it best to not introduce it to their homes at all.

Riddle me this..I wish their computers were the beast..many web sites are jam packed full of Christers. They throw their religious opinions in on questions and conversations that have nothing to do with their religion, many are just ignorant.
Can't beat'em off with a club! Maybe their Pastors will put the fear of God in them! Yes, CHRISTIANS, COMPUTERS ARE EVIL!

I don't think they necessarily think COMPUTERS are bad...just the internet. There's alot of great things online, but then again, there's sooo much more bad, evil, and corrupt things on the internet too. It can be like a gateway to sin.

Computers connect to the Internet, Internet is a tremendous tool to find info. They would prefer to see you barefoot, poor and no education and 12 children to take care of.
