I see someone has already said buttermilk...that's the southern way which I am southern. You can't go wrong with soaking your chicken in buttermilk then dredge in flour that has been salt and peppered....don't forget to salt and pepper the chicken itself before dredging...yes, your fingers will get icky but you will see it will have been worth the mess......fry in hot oil (again southerner's use an iron skillet).....can store in warm oven on lowest degree until you get all the pieces fried.

usually i season my flour and my chicken and also the egg wash which is nothing but beaten egg with a little milk added to it. I first coat tha chicken with tha flour then the egg wash and then flour it again so it can have a nice cripy and crunchy skin

Make a batter with Bisquick. Real simple to do.
Also, put a bowl of crushed up Cheez-Its (Fiesta Taco flavour) to one side.
Dip the chicken in teh batter and roll in the cheez-its. Then fry. YUMMY!

Don't skip the salt, pepper and red pepper flakes!!

My momma's best Sunday fried chicken:

First blot with clean paper towels
Dip in milk and beaten eggs
Roll in flour mixed with crushed salteens w/salt, black pepper and red pepper flakes!!
Then fried...
You'll love it, trust me!

Take the skin off, rinse it in water, then roll it in flour. No egg.
