SystemWorks DECREASES performance. It requires memory and processing power to keep it running.

First of all, most of symantec's products are very very influential on how much memory you have on your computer. In lamens terms, they are a memory hogs. If you do not have enough memory your computer is going to run slow because you have all these processes, anti virus cleaners, going in the background.

There is a feature on most antiviurs programs called Real Time Scanning or active scanning. This means that the virus scans everything on your computer without you knowning. It does it by itself. When you click on something it is scanned then opened.

If not that than a lot of software out there meant to clean does do some damage. It deletes things on your computer that can be deleted but should not be. But i believe that if you upgrade your memory you will be fine or get differnet software.

If it's slow after you installed Norton, it could be because Norton is clogging your memory...namely your RAM. It happens on the computers at my job. They have Windows 98SE and they're older computers...so a big program like system works bogs them down so bad, it's not even worth having them.
