The True God Jehovah. The true God is not a nameless God. His name is Jehovah. (Deut. 6:4; Psalms 83:18.) He is God by reason of his creatorship. (Genesis 1:1; Revelation 4:11) The true God is real (John 7:28), a person (Acts 3:19; Hebrews 9:24), and not lifeless natural law operating without a living lawgiver, not blind force working through a series of accidents to develop one thing or another. The 1956 edition of The Encyclopedia Americana (Vol. XII, p. 743) commented under the heading “God”: “In the Christian, Mohammedan, and Jewish sense, the Supreme Being, the First Cause, and in a general sense, as considered nowadays throughout the civilized world, a spiritual being, self-existent, eternal and absolutely free and all-powerful, distinct from the matter which he has created in many forms, and which he conserves and controls. There does not seem to have been a period of history where mankind was without belief in a supernatural author and governor of the universe.” Jehovah always acts within his own righteous arrangements, doing all things on a legal basis. (Romans 3:4, 23-26.) For this reason all of his creatures can have complete confidence in him, knowing that he always abides by the principles he establishes. He does not change (Malachi 3:6), and there is no “variation” with him in the application of his principles. There is no partiality with him (Deuteronomy 10:17, 18; Romans 2:11), and it is impossible for him to lie.—Numbers 23:16, 19; Titus 1:1, 2; Hebrews 6:17, 18.

Some of God’s primary attributes are love (1 John 4:8), wisdom (Proverbs 2:6; Romans 11:33), justice (Deuteronomy 32:4; Luke 18:7, 8), and power (Job 37:23; Luke 1:35). He is a God of order and of peace. (1 Cor 14:33.) He is completely holy, clean and pure (Isaiah 6:3; Habakkuk 1:13; Revelation 4:8); happy (1 Timothy 1:11); and merciful (Exodus 34:6; Luke 6:36). Many other qualities of his personality are described in the Scriptures.

His position. Jehovah is the Supreme Sovereign of the universe, the King eternal. (Psalms 68:20; Daniel 4:25, 35; Acts 4:24; 1 Timothy 1:17) He is the Source of all life.—Job 33:4; Psalms 36:9; Acts 17:24, 25.

His written Word is his communication to his people, enabling them to be completely equipped as his servants and ministers, and directing them on the way to life.—2 Peter 1:19-21; 2 Timothy 3:16, 17; John 17:3.

Eventually, all those living will acknowledge God’s sovereignty and will praise his name continually.—Psalms 150; Philippians 2:9-11.

Try showing them the concept of God instead. Treat them like they are a wonderful human because god make them so, which includes the freedom to think as they choose without interference from you.

That's tough.First of all you have to take a gentle approach. Some things you just have to explain best you can and hope it is understood. But with God its different. If you make one step God will make two.So when trying to explain God to someone ,have the right intentions and be willing to answer questions and definitely study your bible ,and ask your pastor, or minister for answers. If you make an effort to expose God to someone else I'm sure He will bless you and if it seems as if your efforts aren't working then leave it in God's hands.

You would want to start with some understanding of what the person already knows and believes. For instance, your explanation might be different for an adult than it would be for a young child. So when you say "didn't know," it requires more specificity of what the person didn't (and did) know, since most people know something.

If a person is really seeking God and not just trying to please you, the quickest way is to allow God's Word, the Bible, to do its work. One of the best Christian books I know of that can help with this is "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis. It's available in paperback in any Christian bookstore and most large bookstores like Border's.
