So now you're saying the dog only TRIED to bite you? What happened to your other story about the dog actually BITING you?
So let me get this straight...you went to the ER because a dog TRIED to bite you? Why would the doctor even look at you? How is it an emergency situation? You realize the ER is for life or death situations, not because a dog TRIED to bite you?
You are unbelievable. I love that you are claiming your neighbors are the irresponsible ones here.

Let's see here. The dog was in your yard and "tried" to bite you.
Because you don't feel people should have *%#%* dogs you went to the E.R. and showed the doctor the place on your leg that the dog "tried" to bite you, but didn't really bite you? How is that "an emergency situation"?
Emergency rooms are for life and death situations, not for an "almost " dog bite. I can't believe they wasted their time looking at you. I also cannot believe they charged you $900.00 for doing nothing. You didn't even need a band aid and they charged you $900.00? Why would the dog owners tell you that you should have gone to a regular doctor when there was nothing wrong with you? I can't believe there is a lawyer that would take a case this stupid. When he asked you what the problem was, did you say, "I have an almost dog bite here and I want to sue for $900.00 for the E.R. and a lot more because these people own a dog that could have bitten me, but didn't".
I think you have a hell of a lot more problems than your neighbors and their dog!!!!!!!!!!
HEY! All of you are on the dog's owner for being neglectful. How were they neglectful of the dog? You don't know if the dog was in his own yard or this nut case that is presenting her side of the story. You don't have all the facts so don't condemn the owners until you hear their side.

Lady.
How can you have a dog bite if the dog didn't break your skin? If the skin was not broken it was not a bite. There is no injury you have no case.
Have you even tried getting an attorney?
Is the attorney making you pay for his time up front?
Be careful if they are asking for a retainer or hourly fee. For a case like this it should be on a basis that only pays when you get paid. And, usually its around 20% depending on where you live. If you have an attorney that is charging you up front - he's screwing you.
I think you better look out.
You are not intelligent enough to scare the dog.
Your neighbors will pay you nothing. You may even have to pay your neighbors attorney fees and costs depending on your state. If your neighbors file tort charges of fivalous law suit. Which is also something a potential attorney of yours could be named in also. And, if the state bar gets ahold of that...

If the neighbors are going to keep a dog they know bites, then they should indeed pay for it.
As for responsible pet owners- ah, yes, one of the Great Questions of the universe.
Now, lately pet owners who've been found to be negligent have been finding the law turning against them. And since you went to the emergency room instead of waiting, the attending physician will be able to tell what he saw.
Here is something that might hearten you: Some years ago, a couple who left their dog in a car in the middle of a hot parking lot got sentenced to sit in a car in the middle of a hot marking lot, for just as long as they made their dog do that. I'm willing to bet they had second thoughts after that!

Some millennia ago, a couple of people, the first ones here, had right dandy relationships with all the animals. Then they violated their contract and their Creator terminated there employment as garden caretakers and animals overseers. Expelled from the garden, these and their descendants continued to act as if they could get back into that easy "garden style" relationship with animals where they didn't have to work at taming or training the thing. This unfortunate delusion continues to this day. People buy pets so they can believe that the "fall" didn't happen and they weren't fired from their job of animal overseers. Then a baby is attacked. The weird part is when even that doesn't convince them they're thinking is wrong.

People see a dog and say, "Oh how cute...I want one." They don't take into consideration things like, grooming, feeding, exercising, socializing, loving. They think that because they throw some water in a dish and some kibble on the ground that they are responsible pet owners. They tie the dog up outside all day with no protection from rain, snow, heat or anything. Then when someone calls the SPCA on them, they act all shocked and ticked off because they may get in trouble. I've helped out at a local animal shelter and quit when I learned that a dog was getting put down because they didn't have rabies vaccinations and bit people..WHY? Because their owners didn't want to spend the 50 bucks to get their dog a rabies shot, but will pay over 100 to get him euthanized because he bit someone. A pet isn't just something you buy because it's cute and you think you should own one. A pet is a responsibility, it's like raising a child. So for all you pet owners out there that fit the criteria for an irresponsible pet owner, remember this....what goes around comes back to bite you in the azz and it will probably be your own dog biting you. But then again, I've seen people abuse dogs and the dogs will still come by your side and show up wagging their tails no matter what you do to them. I've seen dogs soooo malnourished and emaciated from never getting proper care, that they don't have the strength to stand up on all fours, yet they muster up the energy to wag their tail when they see someone that's willing to show them love and affection, the same affection the people who buy these dogs aren't getting from their families, so they decide to abuse their animals. Remember this...Ted Bundy started out abusing animals and killing them for fun, then he moved to people...see the pattern here?

I understand that you are upset at your neighbors neglect, but why did you feel it necessary to go to the ER if you were not hurt! This was not a case for a Dr. you should have called animal control or the local law enforcement.. It's people like you (who obviously didn't pay the bill) who make it hard for others, (who really need to see a Dr. but can afford too) because we have to pay the bill for you! You my friend are a idiot! I don't blame your neighbors for being mad! By-the-way, if there was no proof of the dog biting you, how do you think you will be able to make them pay for your bill? You can't! So you will become just another dead beat and the rest of us will end up paying for your stupidity

Well now if w had more-responsible pet owners, look at all the jobs that would be eliminated... Animal Control officers would be a thing of the past.
Ah, anyway time to come back forward... ain't gonna happen.
They're inconsiderate and don't care about anyone else.
How you treat an injury caused by their negligence is your call.
Given the same situation they'd probably done the same thing.

Some of us are responsible - my dog is only in my fenced back yard when I am outside with him, and he is on a leash for walks outside the yard. Those people are legally responsible for injuries caused by their dog, whether they think so or not. You will win in court. They should also get fined by animal control for letting their dog run loose. Did you call animal control to complain? Be sure you do, so that this doesn't happen to a child in your neighborhood. Good luck!

You said the dog TRIED to bite you....If you were in their yard tough. If the dog was in your yard that is different. But either way according to your question you are a trouble maker. I would not pay you squat if the skin wasn't broken. Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear but it is the truth. Thanks for the 2 points anyway...
