IF it is new it's not a birthmark. Go to the doctor. It could be skin cancer. My mom had it on her scalp. She ignored it and ended up losing an ear to cancer. Take care of your body, it's the only one you got.

Check for the ABCD's of skin cancer:
A stands for asymmetry.
One half of the mole doesn't match the other half. Melanoma tend to be irregular.
B stands for border irregularity.
Benign (good) moles have nice smooth edges whereas melanoma are busily invading and tend to have irregular edges.
C stands for color.
If the color is intensely black, possibly with a bluish tint, or the color is uneven across the mole, this is suspicious of a melanoma.
D stand for diameter
if the mole is greater than 6 mm (about the size of a pea), then there is a greater chance that it is malignant.
If you have a suspicious mole, contact your dermatologist

if its a new birthmark, its not a birthmark. you should keep an eye on it and if it changes shape or color, go to the doctor. a birthmark is something you are born with...hence the name...

a birth mark is something you are born with. if you have a new spot on your body, you need to have it checked out. if it changes size or shape at any time, this could be skin cancer

If a spot magically appears, you were not born with it. If it changes shape, color, or tenderness get it checked.

THE NEW BIRTH MARK ISN'T A MARK YOU WAS BORN WITH SO IF A MARK JUST APPEARS YOU SHOULD GET IT CHECKED OUT BECAUSE IT CAN BE CANCEROUS.
