Yes, but be careful. There were many, MANY branches of belief (the very philosophies of gnosticism made that a foregone conclussion) and it is deeper and richer than some of the stuff you'll see on line.

May I suggest a source to you?

Gnosticism was a strand of early Christianity obsessed with secret knowledge. The Gnostics viewed society as a two-tiered system, with the common folk ignorant of the "secret knowledge" obtained and retained by the elites.

Gnosticism also held a strong dual nature view of life, with the soul a model of purity and the body of wickedness and evil.

Gnostic gospels abounded back then. (The Gospel of Judas is such a work.) Essentially, they hold that there was some special secret truth or mission etc. that Jesus gave only to one of His followers and never shared with the rest.

Gnosticism was declared heretical at the Council of Nicaea.

Yes, The Gospels according to Thomas the Gnostic and Mary the Gnostic were eliminated by the Council of the Nazarene in the 5 century headed by Emperor Constantine, who by the way stayed a pagan until when he was on his deathbed.

I have and it did and would not surprise me that it exists today.
In fact the Colossian church was starting to go this particular way of Christianity. In fact it was Paul that, since he was the writer of the letter to this church, that showed the errors of this type of christianity by showing that Christ is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. As well as the redeemer of sinners and the Head of the Church.
