oh ya....i've touched the kittens and puppies all the time. just make sure you know your dog. get the dogs premission....go slowly and you will know if the dog is ok with it. but chances are good that she may not be. specially if this is her first litter. i wait for a couple of weeks before approaching the pups. she wants to bond with the babies. but i think its good once she's more comfortable with the babies, helps them to be get used to humans more easily the earlier it is. i find anyways. but not to over do it.....cause the dog will notice the baby is gone and may get anxious about her baby being gone to long

I had the privilege of witnessing the birth of 11 puppies. As soon as a puppy is born, the mother will instantly clean it - She will NOT PERMIT YOU to touch it before she cleans it ... and she's very meticulous in the way she cleans the puppy ... and with a lot of love. Even after she cleans the puppy, the mother becomes frustrated when someone tries to touch the puppy, however, she will tolerate her owner to touch the puppy. So if you are her owner, yes, the mother will let you and there's nothing wrong if you do.

These answers that pep r giving are lam. Yes if you have a bond with that K-9 you will be able to touch , move, pick up, what ever you want to do. If the mother is giving birth right then. Grab the baby and let her eat the cord. But only 2 not all of them. Its good for them but if to many it can make her sick. Take a towel and rub the pup to help stimulate its body temp. Wipe its face and mouth and noise of if there is still blood and water. Do this only if the pup is not responding. Take the pup in your hands don't grab to tight. But go up and down don't let go but as if you were going to through it to the floor. What this does is forces the fluids out of the young K-9s lungs. Than start the rubbing and slightly blow air into his or her mouth. Hope this will help.

Yes, a human can, with care. Just make sure the human's hands are very clean, be very gentle, and if the mother dog doesn't want the human near, don't press the subject...

You can touch the puppy but make sure to wash your hands before and after you do. Germs is the reason why "PEOPLE" say not to pick them up at birth. And just to let you know, you can also preform CPR on a newborn puppy if it is not breathing. I know, It's grose, but you can!!!

Sure, sometimes a human has to assist at birth. The mommie dog might be pretty anxious about her pup though, so watch her teeth.

It all depends on the mom. Some moms are proud and want their family to see their babies. Other moms don't want anyone near for a while. Just let your dog decide that one, okay?

yes, the mother wont reject her puppy after, it's not like a bird. and if the mommy is your pet she will let you unless you are a stranger to her then, say bye to your hand.
