Corruption is not an unique quality from Mexicans, your own politicians are corrupt as well, the difference is that you aren't aware of that.
In Mexico, among the filthy rich and the sadly poor, THERE IS a middle class, of the educated and hard worker people.
I don't think Mexican politicians "lack of understanding", they are absolutely smart to take every cent from the country, they lack from humanitarianism and the conscience of a collectivity that would help the country grow in a more equal way. And perhaps in that way Mexicans in search for better opportunities would not be crossing your borders and giving you cheap and easy labor force.

Arent the Americans immigrants themselves in America? If they had come to America for something, if there is a better place I am sure they would go...
Just look at the history of all colonisers... They will go to a country, squander that country, the squandered country becomes poooooooooor and then the people of this poor country will be illegal when they are staying in the coloniser's country without a visa, but I would always wonder with what visa they colonised other countries...
It might seem a weird example to your question... dont worry things will take a round at some time...

May be not,
I dont know what exactly you mean by organized, but there are many countries that have a good healthcare, education transportation system. Canada infact has a better healthcare system than the US but you dont see millions of Americans crossing the border.
Also, Canada and many scandinavian countries are more socialist ( I know this term is used pretty loosely nowadays). But the point here is the disparaty between the rich and poor is less and almost everyone has access to basic healthcare and education - something we cannot boast of in the US, you dont see americans trying to migrate to these countries in large numbers !!!
Bottom line, its not about immigration, its about breaking the law.

Americans are all those people that live from Canada all the way down to Chile. As you might have notice America is the name of the whole continent..you know..the New World as it was known back in the days. It's funny to see how people from the US uses the word "American" to describe themselves...lol... In Spanish we do have a name for people from the US.."Estado Unidenses" which means people from "Estados Unidos" (United States)
The rest of us Americans have a name for example:
People from Mexico: Mexicans
People from Cuba: Cubans
and so on.....
This is America:
Canada, USA, Mexico = North America
Honduras,El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rica and Belize = Central America
Colombia, Ecuador,Brazil,Peru,Bolivia,Argentina,Uruguay,Paraguay,Venezuela,Guyana,Suriname,French Guiana and Chile = South America

Corruption is a way of life in Mexico, it has been for many, many years.
Everybody wants a piece of something, whatever it is regardless of who is in their way and how they get it.
It is not going to change ever, which is sad but true. They don't lack the the understanding to manage their resources, they lack leaders with integrity and ethics to do it.

I didn't bother reading the rest because I have a problem with the term AMERICANS. In case you forgot or think the US is special or is on an island, Mexico is part of America too, therefore they are Americans.

I would NOT cross the border for Mexico to live there. Ever. They have a really bad legal system and laws are outrageous.
