My BF gave me an engagement ring and I was happy! However, I have not told my 17 year old son about it because he is having trouble with summer school, and I did not want to add some more stress to his life. I feel bad for my BF. I think he has some bad feelings about my son because he gives me such a hard time about things. We had a tiff tonight because I would not let him sleep over, even though my son won't be home. My concern was that he may show up early... My BF got angry and is now avoiding me. Is all of this my fault? And how can I fix it?

well they are both the 2 most important men in ur life... if your bf doesnt like your son or has bad feelings.. i think you should talk it out with him... cuz marriage is a big step... but your son should be old enough to understand that you need some one... you should all talk it out one night... all 3 of you jsut say how u feel and then go from there...

I think what you need to do is sit sown and have a talk with your 17 year old son. Explain to him that you were proposed to and this gentleman makes you happy. But you want your son to be happy also. You deserve to be happy yourself.
this gentleman that proposed to you should be more understanding about your situation. Let him know that you are going to have a talk with your son and explain everything to him. It is not your fault at all. Actually he is being a little childish about it. They both want your attention and don't want to share you. Just explain that you love them both and that your relationships with each of them is not going to change your love for any of them. Just because your son is out for the night does not mean that your BF can stay over. If your concerned about what your son might think, then your BF should understand and respect your wishes.
Good luck and congrats, Jack

YOU REALLY NEED TO TALK TO YOUR SON AND LET HIM KNOW YOU'RE MOVING ON WITH YOUR LIFE AND YOU'VE FOUND SOMEONE YOU WANT TO SPEND THE REST OF YOUR LIFE WITH. THAT'S THE FIRST THING YOU NEED TO DO, NO MORE EXCUSES ABOUT HOW YOU DON'T WANT TO ADD STRESS TO HIS LIFE.

AND AS FOR YOUR BF IF HE'S AVOIDING YOU, THE RETURN THE FAVOR GIRL. AVOID HIM. HOW DARE HIM ACT LIKE THAT. HE KNOWS YOU HAVE A SON AND IT'S BETTER THAT HE SHOW YOU KNOW BEFORE YOU GET MARRIED HOW HE REALLY FEELS. IF HE CAN'T UNDERSTAND THAT YOU NEED TO TALK TO YOUR SON FIRST BEFORE HE STARTS SPENDING THE NIGHT, THEN FORGET IT, IT WON'T WORK. GOOD LUCK AND DON'T BEG ANY MAN! IF HE WANT'S TO BE STUPID AND IGNORE YOU, DON'T COME RUNNING WHEN HE CALLS.

you all need to sit down and talk about things. concerns and issues as to why they are like this with each other. this will help things. get yr son involved more in yr relationship he probably does feel threatened that he is losing his mom.

1) doesn't sound unfair...
2) Also - a good guy - would understand...
3) You sounded logical to me...your thinking seems in order...
4) better safe than sorry...
5) don't let a ring silence you...(think about it)

I bet your boyfriend has no kids of his own. He doesn't understand how a mother is protective and always puts the child ahead of her own wants or needs. That's what makes us good moms. My boyfriend also has no kids and really doesn't understand how I deal with mine. It's hard!
