The nearest town is so small the cops go off duty at 8pm . And we have only the cops out this far 4 times in3 years. They came in 2004 to tell us we needed to evacuate [hurricanes].

I would like to know where you live cos I don't want to move there. That sounds like it would be so stressful, I guess maybe you would get used to it, and maybe because I worked as an RN in an emergency room for a long time and I always knew that it wasn't good to hear a siren. I live in McAlester, OK, a town of about 19,000 people or so, and rarely do we hear any kind of emergency vehicles, and I am glad!! It means people are safe.

About maybe 5 to 8 times in a 12 hour day

police, 6 times a day maybe.... no lights or sirens. usually checking to see what the youths are up to- we live in a so called "hot spot" and if there are 4 or more teens together, its routine to pull them over and ask them where they have been and are going ... meanwhile tjhere are violent assaults ,break-ins, etc....but i guess they cant be in two places at once....
occasional ambulance , but more recently fire engines speeding down our rd so fast ,lights and sirens going ..im surprised they havnt lost control of the vehicle and caused a major accident

Never.

My car got broken into 2 years ago. Before that the neighbors said it was 12 years since any breakins on my street. Since then there has been one other.
Seems there have been a lot of kids walking the neighborhood at night. We keep a better eye out now.

Hope it gets better where you live.

none; but maybe its because we live in an area with at least 5 cops...our neighborhood is pretty secure right now, i think!

try loud music to blur out the sounds and hang mirrors near windows to reflect the lights...you could be in a mini disco..j/k try some earplugs

Several we live in a very busy area. Might not always have the sirens and lights going...but they do come by a lot!

you must live next to a Krispy Creme donut shop, I understand they can use lights and siren when the "hot" light comes on.
