my daughter is 12 and she is 12 is this a bad iq number?

According to the chart below, she is considered in the high average range which is equal to only 16% of the population. SO I'd say she's a pretty smart chickie!! Be proud and make sure to challenge her to encourage her to be a well rounded person.

Dan S and Madamecoluba told you correctly. They know what they are talking about.
There are several IQ tests available. On one or two, 117 may be average or a bit under. But, I'm pretty sure that your daughter did not take those tests.
140 to 180 depending on which test is given is considered genius level for an adult. an IQ level of 117 for a 12 year old is genius level for a child. Your daughter will gain IQ points for every additional year of education.

no, actually, it is very good. It doesn't go by age. They are tested with questions they should know at their age and grade level. She would have an easier test than for an 18 year old. So, her test would make an 18 year old look like a genius probably. My daughter was 8 when she took the test and scored a 118, but then her test would have been easier than your daughter's. They do a verbal and a written test.. on the verbal, my daughter scored a 127 and on the written a 109, because she's ADHD and can't concentrate. Then they average the two.

No way I am 12 and I have 116. So we are almost the same. And 116 and 117 are not bad because I think the average for an adult is around 120-130. I think.

It's above average- the average IQ is 100, with a standard deviation of about 15 points, so if she were above 130 she would be considered a genius, as that is two standard deviations away. She is just above 115, so that puts her in a about the top 14% of people, give or take. That is great, considering her age!!!

Taking on line IQ tests is a hallmark that somebody lacks intelligence. Spending 5 minutes analyzing approximately how IQ works, its skill failings as a level of intelligence, and the completed uselessness of on line IQ tests may be a better indicator of intelligence.

No it's not. The average adult IQ is 100, so 117 is pretty good.

117 is fine. I think its around 70 that one would have a mental problem.

100 is the basic IQ and then you add the age on to it for average, upto a certain age, so 112 would be average for your daughter, so she's above average.
