Why do I blackout or vomit when I donate bood? Is it psychological or something I can't control??

Make sure that you have eaten well before you donate. The most common causes of nausea in people who donate blood is either attributed to the actual sight of the blood or the pain associated with being stuck. It is possible that an automatic response to the pain you experience while being stuck is a triggered nausea response. As well, your nerves might play a role in your vomiting. If this is too uncomfortable for you, then don't give blood.

I think it might be psychological... But it could be that your donating too much blood and you didn't eat enough before donating, but I'm not 100% sure as I don't know much about this topic... Seeing your doctor won't be a bad idea, even if it turns out to be psychological, its better to know than wonder!

I have had an operation they took my blood to use it during operation(since they did not want to use someone elses blood)turns out when i woke up from it i started vomitting.its connected to ur donating blood.u better make sure u can give blood & u have enough.doesnt u throat get dry head hurt spins feel weak black out & vomit?its same as coming out from op after surgery so ur weak or ur body is trying to tell u u cant give blood so listen to it

It is just something you cannot control. If you get kindof woosy too I am the same way. It is just your body's reaction to the needle and the blood.

i think if you dont eat or something.......or you could be giving away too much blood

somthin you cant contorl. go to a docter and ask whats going on. i would . its the best thing to do.

maybe cause u dont like blood or needles. i dont!
