Some experts believe that fasting is bad on teenagers bodies, but I fasted when I was 16 and I turned out alright. The most important thing to do is to drink plenty of fluids. Don't drink only water though, juices are okay to have. (When I fast I drink naked juice, which is a smoothie made from a serving of fruit. They are super healthy and pretty good. I like strawberry and banana, but you could try some other health drinks too). Also, drink Gatorade.
Another idea is to fast for a number of hours, instead of fasting for 48 hours straight, you could try fasting for twelve hours a day for four days. Or you could only eat solid foods when the sun is up (you would eat a large breakfast around 6 am and then supper whenever the sun sets). Ask other people that have fasted for other ideas on the do's and don'ts.

Fasting isn't healthy. It makes your body think it's starving and makes it go into overdrive trying to hold onto the calories, carbs, and fat, which often cause weight GAIN, not weight loss. Yeah, it could possibly stunt your height if you fasted for a long period of time, but still it's really bad for you. Try exercizing and eating plenty of veggies, fruits, and whole grains in moderate amounts, and you should lose weight. Good luck! And don't fast!!

Not sure, it depends on how much you weigh and how much excess weight you have.
Fasting for forty days can actually cause someone to lose as much as half of his/her body weight.
Fasting is not bad for you but most people will discourage it because after a certain point it can get out of hand. (That and they find it impossible for anyone else to do because they can't do it.) Eventually, whether or not you do it from the beginning or after fasting, you will have to change your eating and exercise habits.
13 years of age is young for dieting. 2 days won't stunt your growth, 40 might lead to blackouts because individuals your age tend to be more active than adults. Best bet is to cut out or at least cut back on simple carbohydrates (white bread, white rice, .....) all processed foods. No soda. Eat fiber rich foods and drink more water.

How much weight you lose during a fast is different for each individual. Will it stunt your height? No. Is it advisable? No. Especially if you are doing so without supplementing with nutrients. You can do a juice fast but should not do so without supervision (nutritionist, dietitian, doctor). Regardless, any weight you lose, will most likely come back...

Why thinking the way????
Do not be so crazy.
Generally you gain weight because of fats deposits, just dissolve them. How?
People go for losing weight by pills or starving.
Pills do not act effectively and for longer durations. Pills have many side effects for your health.
Starving weakens you and your defense system is also weakened. This makes you less resistant against infactions and other diseases.
The best way is to lose weight by change of diet and your physical activities.
1. Reduce or stop to take oils and fats.
2. Stop taking sugar and glucose. (Mainly tea, coffee & cold drinks.
3. Stop taking potato, rice.
4. Reduce wheat and corn as much as possible.
Take vegitables, boiled meat, fruits (even sweet).
And at the top of all:
Play physical games at least 40 to 60 minutes twice a day.
You will start losing weight to the extent of daily difference.

The average number of pounds a person loses is 2 per week on a regular diet. Fasting is much more, but also very dangerous. If you do plan on going fasting seriously, i suggest eating small amounts of crackers and taking lots of water to help overcome the hunger and then have a light meal by nighttime.

Physical effects of fasting
When food is not eaten, the body looks for other ways to find energy, such as drawing on glucose from the liver's stored glycogen and fatty acids from stored fat and eventually moving on to vital protein tissues. Body, brain and nerve tissue depend on glucose for metabolism. Once the glucose is significantly used up, the body's metabolism changes, producing ketone bodies (acetoactate, hydroxy-butyrate, and acetone). Even though this transformation to an alternative form of energy has been made, some parts of the brain exclusively need glucose, and protein is still needed to produce it. If body protein loss were to continue, death will ensue.
After approximately three days of fasting, feelings of hunger usually become infrequent or disappear altogether. According to Herbert M. Shelton, a proponent of Natural Hygiene, who over a period of 45 years supervised patients fasting on water only for up to ninety days. Shelton claimed the 'hunger' experienced during the first three days of a fast is "gastric irritation", and not "true hunger", which appears after all the body's resources are used up and when the fast must be broken to avoid permanent and irreversible organ damage.

First of all, I'm 12 years old and I think i'm fat, so i've tried fasting. I did it for four days. I lost about 8 pounds. But then after those four days, i went back to my regular schedule of eating. I gained all of the weight back within 3 days, and i even gained a few extra pounds. It was because my metabolism slowed down, because since i wasnt eating it was used to burning about 1,000 calories a day. So when i started eating again it wasn't used to burning so many calories. It doesnt work. Dont fast. Because then you'll end up like me, even fatter than you started with. Believe in yourself, and have a balanced diet, and love yourself for who you are.

Weight loss is purely burning more calories than you consume. Two days, no it will not stunt your growth, but fasting is a bad habit to get into. Fasting can develop into an eating disorder. I think its a bad idea.

Fasting will actually make you gain weight when you eat again because your body thinks it's starving and so it will hold onto every calorie as fat. Fasting will also stunt your growth in hieght. Best wishes
