I have been in the assembly of God church. As far as I know, they are a groupe of churches, who believe in the contemporary style of christianity, mixing the new with the old, like their religious songs, a mix of rock and christian.

First of all, congratulations in accepting the Lord! I have been raised in the Assemblies of God, and wouldn't go anywhere else! The A/G has 16 Fundamental Truths that we believe. 1. The scriptures both Old & New testament, are verbally inspired of God, and are the revelation of God to man, the infallable, authoritive rule of faith & conduct. (2 Timothy 3:15-17)
2. The one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally exsitent "I Am", the creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind. 3. The Diety of the Lord Jesus Christ. His virgin birth, his sinless life, His miracles, His work on the cross, His resurrection, His sitting on the right hand of God. 4. The Fall of Man. 5. Man's only redemption is throught the blood of Jesus. 6. a. Baptism in Water, b. Holy Communion 7.& 8. Baptism in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. 9. Sanctification 10. The Church & it's mission ( to be an agency for evangelizing the world.) 12. Divine Healing is a part of the Gospel. 13. The Blessed Hope. (Life after death, and the Second Coming.) 14. The Milennial Reign of Christ The visible return of Christ with His saints to reign on earth for 1000 years (Zechariah 14:5) 16. The Final Judgement
16. The New Heavens and the New Earth (2 Peter 3:13)
Any pastor should help you with any more questions.

There are pentecostal. They vary across the country. Some are extreme charismatics (off the planet) some are a little less. most pastors are uneducated, although AG has two large seminary's. The movement is about 90 years old. There are some good people in that church, but many nuts. If you want to play a little safer you can try Southern Baptist-but you will have to check out several-they can be different, some a little too tight, but okay in general. Or, there is Calvary Chapel- a non-denominational church with strong Bible teaching and Maranatha style worship music. They are not charismatic. Those are probably your best two picks for Bible teaching and safety. By safety I mean they do not stray into cult type ideas.

I have only one issue (minor in your area) with the AG church belief. Ephesians 4:11 states the five fold ministry offices that Jesus gave to the church for the reasons in the verses that follow. They believe in the pastor as an individual but not the others, which they state as a group function instead of placing the name on individuals. Sounds contradicting to me.
There's is another but that would open a can of worms I am not willing to debate right now.
Most of the theories I have seen are OK but let the spirit of God send you to where He want you. He places the members as He sees fit.

There is only one religion that is the truth, these people follow the teachings of Christ to the letter, they do what God has asked them to do. That is to spread the word of what is to come and how to obtain it.Their reward is getting through Armageddon and bringing the earth back to it's original state. They are wonderful people, they are kind, loving and will always be there for you You should find out where your nearest Kingdom Hall is, only there will you really let Jesus and his Father into your life. Jesus warns us of many false religions this is one of them. Many people interpret the Bible to suit themselves, the penalty for this is death. At least go and see what it's all about before you take the wrong path. They are Jehovah's Witnesses, I know what your thinking but your wrong, Jesus said these people would be hated and they are, so that must tell you something

That is a good solid denomination. There are 16 Fundamental Truths in the Assemblies of God listed below. I encourage you to find a local church as soon as you can so you can grow and fellowship.

I have been to several over my lifetime. They are generally very friendly and love to people and God oriented. They beliveve in baptism of Holy Spirit and Pentacost Day. They like to study end times, help missionaries, and study the bible together. I think they are family great, though all kinds of ages in them. Pastors are some of the coolest I've ever met [a surfer Italian one in Ocean Beach, CA- at least was years ago]. They try for supportive programs for learning and fellowhsipping for their congregations. Good luck, I've always like them, and congratulations on entering teh Kingdom of Heaven, let all of heaven/angels rejoice! Amen.

They believe in the gifts of the Spirit (tongues, prophesy, etc); they believe in the Trinity; They teach from the Scriptures; they generally have decent fellowships & pastors, but not always. Like all denominations, there are good ones & not so good ones. Check each one out 3 consecutive services. If you're at peace; make it your home fellowship.

lol i think i can help. I have been a catholic since birth and went to a catholic school. Also i go to church twice a week. First of all you made a right choice. Mass is more of a celebration. You go and listen to the teachings. If you like a more up-beat praising session become baptist, if you want more serous be Catholic.

Type into your web search: 'Assembly of God bylaws'. This should bring up several churches who post the bylaws and beliefs of their particular congregation.
