I'm not asking for actual numbers, I'm just curious which group (by religion or belief, non-belief) people think posts the most (by number) insulting questions or answers directed at other groups.

I prefer to withhold my own opinion until the best answer is chosen.

Thanks for your responses.

To clarify:

The target of the insults isn't important.

I'm curious which group people on Yahoo think offers the most (by number) insults.

More clarification:

The question is unrelated to news reports or current events. The question is limited to religious beliefs (or non-beliefs) of those posting on Yahoo.

Comment: Illiteracy is rampant on Yahoo and elsewhere, that is a different topic altogether. :-)

It is a toss up. People are people and their true colors show through by the comments they make. Have you heard the expression "a child is known by his doings"?

In my experience the majority of posts on Yahoo are written by Christians. It's a statistical likelihood, if nothing else, that the most (by number) insulting posts will therefore be written by Christians, although this by itself is not sufficient to say that Christians are disproportionately insulting.

I'd like a definition of "insult". Someone being told "you're going to hell" is usually considered an insult, but it could be regarded a simple religious statement too. Stupid, moron, idiot, etc. are flung by all parties. Again, the preponderance of potential Christian-flung insults suggests that Christians could be more insulting, but doesn't prove it.

However, in my experience, most atheists and other non-Christian groups (including those from other religions) are relatively rational. If they do insult, it's usually within a more or less well-worded argument, while a surprising number of Christians post more simple epithets. Once again, this has no impact on the amount of insults thrown by either party, but makes Christian insults as a whole cruder.

In conclusion, I'm not sure who insults proportionately more, but I'm pretty sure that Christians insult numerically more.

Well, some of the Jehovahs who answer questions and post questions here tarnish other religions as FALSE and run by Satan even to the point of having their own agenda with a question. Their intolerance, and aggression is often insulting to many religious groups that are not Jehovahs. I am not saying all Jehovahs that answer but a lot of the answers I have seen directly insult other groups through 'cheap shots' whereas other answerers of different beliefs show tolerance and try to give genuine answers.

Definately christians. You see muslims questions and answers and they are replying nicely. You see some who call themselves christians ( I know better, although I am not one) actually call for wiping out entire gropus for not believing as they do. What I don't get is how they can wish death on a baby. I mean, in that group there are babies, and babies being harmed is the thing for me. I feel like ripping the person's heart out with my bare hands and tearing it apart while they watch. That is how serious harming a baby is to me. An adult, I won't have the same reaction because an adult can defend themselves. but an innocent baby? You know, like the one the marines shot while it was laying in bed in iraq? I konw this is not christlike, so I don't accuse all christians of doing this for to do so would be just plain stupid. that same statement goes for every other group including muslims.

hahahaha. Now this is my kinda question. i like u man. finally a reasonable question. now my anwers would be all of the shallow minded people, muslims, atheist, christians whatever man. If ur shallow then u would insult others. im a modern muslim who believes in religious tolerance. And i believe it is not the religion or what the man believes that make him threw the insults but the insensetive person who are so vulgar that they could not stop and accept what other peole thinks. and this is a shout out to all the muslims. shouldnt we be better.

Well...
When a person breaks the laws of society or the tenets of their religion, they are called to account for their actions.
To judge a person as either "good" or "bad" based upon nothing more than their religious preference alone has a label, too. It is called bigotry.

Kinda sad really

the group of fundamentalist, stupid, ignorant people.

i really don't know what belief that is, but from what i see the insults come from various ways, with one thing in common. They either come from fundamentalists, or stupid people, or ignorant people. Sometimes these qualities are even mixed in one and the same person. When all three are combined into one person, then it almost becomes funny, by the way.

I think it would have to vary from day to day by whom is on here. Overall I think it would have to be Christian to Atheists and vice versa. Today it seems like a lot of people are bashing Islam.

I think every side is about even. There's buttheads in every group. We just tend to point out the louder ones.
