find the seat that goes onto the toilet and get him to use it...my 3 yr old nephew won't go unless he has a toy car in his hand, so my sis gives him one....be patient with him he will be "trained" when HE is ready

Teach him to stand when peeing since you are the dad you should lead by example and show him how the guys do it. He will want to be just like you. Otherwise as far as number 2 if he really has to go then he'll sit otherwise just wait till you get home. My son still sits on his little seat that sits on the big toilet at home and he's 5 but when we are out he just makes due. The learning to stand up helps tremendously though.

I just went through the same thing with my nearly 4 year old. Her potty seat was wrecking the toilet seat so we went to the store and she picked out a new toilet seat. She watched me put it on and I hid her potty seat. She hasnt asked about it since.

He could also be afraid of falling in... hold him the first few times w/o the potty seat to reassure him.

When I trained my boys I put dish liquid in the toilet and had them make bubbles. I even used a ping pong ball and had them try and hit the ball. This was when I was training but it couldn't hurt to try.

If you want to have a kid who is potty traied i sujest that you leave the kid to do what he wants to do as long as its helping him to potty train.
