If you are blistering, that is a second degree burn, and you really ought to seek medical attention.
Ibuprofen, aspirin, or other NSAID may help with the pain. After a nice cool, soaking bath, dab the skin with vinegar/water (1/4) mix (maybe on a washcloth for a while), then put a thick layer of good old fashioned, in the blue tub, Noxema on the skin. It helps numb it a little, and the menthol component makes it feel cooler.
You may run fever with this, and for the rest of the year, even after you have peeled and it does not look burned any longer, the sun will feel like you are still sunburned. You have, however, put yourself at greater risk for many kinds of skin cancer in the future.
Personally, I have founds all varieties of aloe vera administration to be not that helpful.

OH, you poor burnt thing, ouch! Yes i do know an old time remedy... aloe Vera... home grown, in a bottle, in a spray it doesn't matter just get yourself some and rub it on until you your satisfied. the slimier the better going on, don't try & use it sparingly. but if you cut it off the plant get you the thick green stem cut it at the base and peel off the skin,, it wont cure it all together but it will help relieve and help you not peel.. Goood luck hope you feel better.

Go to walgreens and get some aloe vera after sun gel. It has lidocaine in it to help relieve the pain and it also mositurizes and cools the skin. It costs abt 6 dollars and works very well.

Aloe vera will help cool it off. Dont put anything with purfumes on it (ie-lotions, soaps) because that will just cause more pain once it starts to peel.

Preparation H put on a sunburn might burn at first, but the next morning, you will not have any pain left and usually, unless very severe, the burn will turn into a nice tan.
