Any department or clothing store would be a good place to start.

It may be tougher to get one through the bank with no credit history, but you could try there as well.

Good Luck - remember to make the payments...paying off the balance in full each month is always best if possible.

Vincent K is correct. If you must have a credit card, get one with no annual fee and which pays you back.

Personally, I use a Citibank Platinum Dividend Select Mastercard, which pays back 5% on gasoline, supermarket and drugstore purchases, 1% on everything else.

Use any credit card with extreme caution. If you don't pay your balance off in full (and on time) every month, the interest rates and fees will dwarf any benefit you will get from using the card. Most people make the mistake of thinking a credit card will stretch their money because they can buy things they don't have the money for. That's dead wrong. It doesn't stretch your money; it *shrinks* it. The reality is that you not only have to pay for what you bought, but interest on top of it. As a result, you'll eventually wind up paying $121 for something that you initially charged for $100. It's not a good way to live. Don't get in over your head.

the best cc is your debit card attached to your checking account. The safeguard is that you can't spend what you don't have in the bank. I am a Loan Officer and tell you this from a credit councelor's point of view. Did You know that as long as it has an mc or visa logo on it you can use it as a credit card for such things as car rental, and other things ware you need a credit card? I am telling you this for your own good, because sometimes what we want is not always in our best interest, and if you run up cc debt it will make it hard to purchase a home later on in life. I won't tell you what to do that desision is yours, just make it wisely.

I agree you do need one. I went to open a business and I couldn't get any help because I didn't have any credit.. I would tell you to check in to Orchard. they may be able to help you.. Stay away from American Express they will let you spend as much as you can but they want the payment the very next month.. Good luck and do some home work

Usually credit cards that are offered through a Credit Union will offer you the best long term rates and not just a teaser rate.

You may not have enough credit to get one that rewards you. But I have a Citibank Mastercard that rewards me a ton of money. I never pay them interest - I pay it off every month.

Otherwise, get a gas card if you can't get anything else.
