while taking medication (septra)? I want to go outside into the pool, but I don't want an adverse reaction with my medication. P.S. It's 110 today and we have a swamp cooler so I'm dying inside this house!!!!!!!!!

That's because Septra is an antibiotic that can make you more sensitive to sunlight. That means that you're more likely to get a sunburn or a photoreaction wherein your skin burns more easily than you normally would.

Did that medication come with the warning for you not to expose yourself to the sun? The reaction may not be what you want to bargain for. Should you really really have to go outside, cover up. I know it defeats the purpose but, again the odds are against you that you'll react in a negative way. Always use a SPF of at least 15 on ANY exposed skin. To the naked eye you cannot see the harmful effects of the sun on your precious beautiful skin. You can see it on older women who neglected to care for thier skin when they were younger. The skin is leather-like, not pretty. Best to be safe, a lil uncomfortable than sorry. You only have the skin your in, don't jeopardize it by being foolish.

Read the medication carefully for any info on what affects might happen when you're exposed to sunlight. For the most part, exposure to sunlight in general not only causes excess dehydration (thanks to the scorching heat), but also causes sunburn and other serious illnesses thanks to the sun's Ultraviolet rays (the rays would not have affected your skin if the Ozone Layer were as thick as several decades ago, but that's a different story).

If you do need to go outside, apply some tanning lotion on your skin and carry some water with you to fight off dehydration.

Eventually you'll look like a raisin. I avoid the sun and I'm 36 but I look 10 years younger.
