2. Aim to work on the causes of your personal depressive feelings and thoughts.
3. Most of the time finding someone that you can trust to talk with helps.
4. Faith helps many people and it gives them something to take their minds off themselves.

sure I would be glad to help.
first off, you are 16!!! you have not even seen life, you are basically still in the womb, but now are nearing the time when you must decide for yourself, and YOU have the power and ability to change your life.
if you are depressed, then CHANGE what it is thats getting you down, thats the great thing about life, you control it, it DOES NOT control you, yes, there will be things that are out of your hands, and things you may NEVER understand, but everything else is clay for you to manipulate into whatever you want.
if you want a functioning bowl, then craft it, if you want an artistic sculpture, then sculpt it.
but dont give up, the reason things get so bad, is because it makes the good times seem even better.
if things were good all the time, you would be bored.
It is the darkness that makes the light so bright.
remember that.
there is always a blue sky just beyond the gray clouds and the rain.

I hate to be so blunt and harsh, but reality dictates that in cases like these you are on your own. Nobody can truly understand you because your situation is a one of a kind, you are a unique individual. Your mental state and emotions are obviously out of balance.
You need to start educating yourself and looking to the future. Create simple goals for yourself, put them in writing and learn how to take action and achieve your goals - Do not waste time.
The problems that you are experiencing today are a part of your journey in life. We are all afraid of making decisions that will effect our futures, we are all scared to commit to change - But it is inevitable. In order to grow, we must change and adapt. That is what makes us better than the generations before.
My immediate advise to you, is that you should not be alone and isolated. Join a team sport, make new friends and you will quickly learn that life is too important and short to hate.
Open your heart to the people around you and you will be accepted and more easily understood.
Best of luck with everything, i am exactly twice your age and have been through it. It will all work out in the end!

Rough age. A few details would help. I remember being 16 and not having anyone to go to for help. The few people around me who said they were there for me, weren't really. There was a specific person in my life who was "bullying" me, and constantly putting me down. The thing that got me through was telling myself that I only had two more years left. Every day I kept telling myself that I only had X amount of time left. I knew that things would get better after those two years, because at the time I couldn't imagine them getting much worse.
As an escape, I turned to books, writing, and music.
Why are you depressed, and what have you tried to get out of it?

Have you talked to your parents? You need to see a therapist or a counceler. If you can't talk to your parents try looking in the yellow pages for a teen line. Or suicide prevention line. I don't know how depressed you are. But counseling helped me big time. No matter what get some help, and know there are a lot of people out there who do feel the way you do. I wish you the best of luck. And please get help.

I've been there so I understand your pain.
What to do:
- Talk to someone -- anyone who you think will help -- a parent, a counselor at school, a minister, and older brother or sister, an aunt or uncle, a neighbor, whatever.
- Go to the doctor TODAY. RIGHT NOW. Get an anti-depressant -- they help about 100 percent.
- Get out of the house. Do things. Join a club. Get into sports. Make friends. When you're out doing things, it's much easier to forget about how depressed you are.
Good luck!

Try the mental health facility in your town. It's usually practically free if you have low income. Also, you can get some St. John's Wort at the local store that carries vitamins and earthy things. Talk to your friends about what's troubling you or talk with someone you trust. Write in a journal, it can help you feel better to get your private thoughts off your mind without everyone knowing your business. But don't kill yourself. I know someone who did, and believe me - that's not the thing to do.

Ok, everyone goes through that when they are 16. I did. What you need to do is re-evaluate your goals and what you want to do with your life. Try helping others. When you stop thinking of yourself and start helping other people, your problems will gradually seem smaller and smaller. Good luck and don't stress, buddy.

Try "Kids Help Phone" if you are in Canada, or call your local distress centre. If you look in the front of your white or yellow pages there are usually contacts for you to call for MH issues. I'd say "Good Luck" but I know that you are going to be okay...hang in there.
