The struggles of parenthood.

When I was a child, I started wetting my bed and myself after having been successfully potty trained, it turned out that I had recurrent bladder infections (urinary tract infections), that never really resolved, because my mother was not aware of them, so needless to say, I did not get antibiotics for a while.

Have you had her urine checked for bacteria? Does she drink a lot after 6pm? Has she seen or been involved in some sort of trauma, ie car accident, parents divorcing, new school, new home, new sibling?

Any of the above mentioned problems, if they did occur, should be addressed, by talking about them, when possible. Also make sure you let your pediatrician know what is going on. If the problem is physical (bacteria, etc.) maybe a sonogram should be performed to rule out any other abnormalities. If the problem is psychological, your pediatrician can recommend a specialist.

Good luck,
Stefanie

She may have a condition know as a reflux, it is a condition where some of the urine from the child's bladder gets pushed back towards the kidneys when they child urinates, she needs to be seen by a urologist.

I would not spank her, it is most likely something she cannot control.

That happened to my niece. she was potty trained for 2 years and then all of the sudden she would just pee on herself. my sister would bust her butt and yell at her and embarrass her but it wouldn't help. come to find out the the flap in the bladder that allows urine to flow stopped working. any liquid in her bladder would flow right thru. she had to get surgery. my sister felt so bad about how she treated my niece though. u should take her to the doctor. her doctor said that it is not uncommon for this to happen to children so take her to a urologist

Sometimes a child reverts back to behaviors, because of stress or maybe a change in lifestyle. So if there has been a sudden change in your life, stick it out with reassuring her that you love her and evrything will work itself out.My son did this when he was young because we moved to a different state,Give her time she will regain her training sooner or later,God bless.

i have a five yr old who does it every once in a while--usually she is to busy to go to the bathroom. Afraid she'll miss whats going on at the time. I scold her and either put her to bed earlier than usual or take away her favorite toy for a day(her bike)
