It's a chemical reaction with some cheaper metals. As kisd, we used to use clear fingernail polish to coat the metal so that it wouldn't come into contact with your skin.

It must have a copper base. It is cheaper to make a ring with copper than to make it a semi precious metal such as silver. Unfortunately most costume jewelry is crap to say the least. It is non existent to find anything good unless you go to the antique store to find good retro stuff but you even have to watch that too. Yeah, its a pain in the you know what!

Here's a hopefully helpful tip for ya. take clear fingernail polish to the inside of the ring. you will have to put a couple of coats, and most likely have to do it once or twice a week it you wear it a lot. but it does help with the awful green. :-)

its cuz of the metal stuff, its like rust or something... but ya ive never had a ring that dosnt do that to my finger
