It was truly puppy love, but still a great connection. We lost contact, but I found his email address. Is it ok to drop a note/inquire how their doing? Try to communicate again- Or should I just move on?

I would try to contact him. I mean, he could be married or in a relationship, but he may be single and wondering where you are. Give it a shot and contact him.

Give it a shot. Keep it light and casual. However, be prepared that a cringe-worthy email might come back with "Here's a pic of me, my wife, and the triplets",
