Over the years, the original song was jumbled and lost all its meaning. The song was meant to say...Jimmy smoked crack and I don't care...

Back in the late 1800's is when this song was written. Some say it's about a slave (presumably a Jim, later changed to Jimmy) who was making corn liquor. You had to crush the corn or crack it open to begin the process of distillation. Some say the slave was crushing/cracking corn for food, corn meal. The term the "masters gone away" either means he died or left for town for an extended period of time. Check out the origens of songs, you'll be amazed at what the lyrics really mean.
