it's a staple around our house...but I don't go by a recipe if i could give you a guess...it would be....2 large cucumbers peeled and sliced thin one med/large onion peeled and sliced into rings place together in a large glass bowl( don't use metal the vinegar had a reaction with the metal it taste bad) add about 1/2 cup of mayo 4T. of vinegar about 2t. of white sugar salt and pepper to taste...now sample it... add a little more mayo or vinegar or sugar to get it how you like it.... once ou do let it set and chill for about a hour ( up to two days) and enjoy!!!

Cucumber Salad

INGREDIENTS:
cucumbers, thinly sliced
1 small white onion, thinly sliced
1 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup water
3/4 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon dried dill, or to taste

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
Toss together the cucumbers and onion in a large bowl. Combine the vinegar, water and sugar in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, and pour over the cucumber and onions. Stir in dill, cover, and refrigerate until cold. This can also be eaten at room temperature, but be sure to allow the cucumbers to marinate for at least 1 hour.

HMMM I do not know one with Mayo but we do one with vinegar... veg oil, sugar, celery seeds and shredded onion with thinly sliced cukes and it is wonderful!

It is mixed cold not boiling because boiling will wilt the cukes and make it a big pile of mush. Everything stays cold and is eaten and stored cold.
