I adopted my cat from the animal shelter over a year ago. (He was 5 months at the time) most of the time he stay indoor, only goes out for an hour or two everyday. Anyway, my husband doesn't like cat because they shred a lot. His fur was everywhere. We just move to a new home, my husband want me either to put the cat out door or give it away. We live in Las Vegas, it's really hot in summer. Anybody know what I can do ? any suggestion to how to make a out door home for my cat?
oh, we have a15 months and a 4 years old kids. that's the reason why my husband doesn't like the fur shred every where.

ive had cats all my life. all indoor/ outdoor at their will.i think a pet should never be caged and should be aloud outside often .. take the cat outside with you every time you go to the yard for mail, gardening, cook out, etc. this way you will see the cats habits and know where she goes when she wanders off one day [ and she will]. the best thing you can do is brush the cat every day for a week then you will get the problem under control... when you get a cat you have to be prepared to care for it as a member of your family for as long as 20 yrs!!! i'm thinking if you can find a GOOD person to adopt your cat ... thats the way you should go. having the children grow up with cats around them may help them develop resistance to allergies...

Since it is so hot in Las Vegas, it would be very hard on the cat to live outdoors all the time. It will feel rejected as well if you no longer let it in the house.
I think in this case, it would be more humane to find it another family that will love it.
Alternate idea: Ask your husband to hold off a bit so you can try an experiment. Comb the cat's fur daily & vacuum the house a lot. Run a damp washcloth across the upholstered furniture to get the loose fur off. Tell your husband that a recent study shows that young children with pets in the house are less likely to get asthma later.

a covered porch. If you have a screened in porch thats really best for the cat that way it provides shade from the heat but a sense of security. If its a mostly indoor cat keeping him outdoors is not good for him. consider finding him a new home. Brushing and rolling your cat daily will minimize shedding. They also make cat food and treats specifically for this problem (try a pet store like petsmart or petco or look around on-line) Here check out the site below, this may help you out. This is for kitty vitamins, 60day supply for like $13- if you love your cat and want to keep it, consider your options...

Unless you are able to provide an enclosed, protected area for your cat outdoors....you'd be better off finding a new home for him. Outdoor cats are exposed to too many risks: vehicles, stray animals, and wildlife. Not to mention, you cannot keep an eye on him, so what happens if he gets injured, or eats something he shouldn't. You wouldn't know until it is possibly too late. If your cat sheds, big deal. Vacuum more and get a brush for the cat, the decrease the amount of shedding.
Tell your husband to get over it, because just about every animal sheds, and you can't expect to own one, and keep them outdoors. It's not the life for them.....they should be part of the family, and you wouldn't kick him outdoors if he left hair everywhere.

I am sorry to here of this situation. That cat will have a very hard time adjusting to outdoor life. (I have seven indoor-outdoor cats) they are well trained and come and go as they please.) It is way too hot in the summer, he will be miserable. Also, he doesn't know of all the dangers, he has been protected from -being indoors. Like traffic, para cites, and other animals. Please reconsider putting him out. Unless you are able to build him a sanctuary with shade or air and closed for safety from pr editors. My friend had a small shed build with a fountain and plants and air conditioning and beds and toys and her cats mostly stayed out there and she would go spend time with them. They lived to be 28 and 32 years old!!! unbelievable, huh? I think you may have to think about finding him another home. His life is worth more than just being put out with food and water. They are precious living creatures that God has put here for us to care for. I wish you good luck.

Either keep the cat indoors, or find it a good new home!
It is not right for your animal to be wandering off of your property!

Just make sure he has plenty of water and food. Cats will find their own shade and shelter!

Do you have any idea how hard your cat is going to try to get into the house? Not fair! I'd go w/ another plan.

your cat has shown you it does not wish to be outdoors all the time. Be kind and give it away to someone who can care for it.
