Hi -
I have a vertical incision from my c-section in 1998. My daughter was very big and very late and my doctors had to get her out in a hurry. The healing was not nearly as bad as I was warned it might be. Quite an easy recovery as long as I took it easy. I had the same incision in 2001 when my son was born and found that recovery even easier. The scar has faded quite a bit too :-)
The vertical incision is much more common these days but on average, 1/50 will be horizontal.

Depends on the circumstances of the pregnancy. Sometimes if twins are being delivered and one is breech, they will do a vertical. For cosmetic reasons they are typically done horizontally in the pubic hair region so that the hair grows back and hides the scar.

It was always cut vertical until the stupid doctors relised one day why should we cut all those muscles when we can make the cut horizontal and cut between the muscle it took alot of messed up women before they got smart.

the only way they do cuts up and down is if its an emergency c-section.........the bikini cut is way more common now a days.. my doc told me they heel faster and its easier to tighten those muscles back up since they arent cutting right into them, only below.
