if you were an atheist and you went to hell you would deny that you are in hell because you don't believe in it. I am an atheist, not the most hardcore of atheists, but anyways, I would feel dumb if I were in hell because I would be wrong.

The notion that Heaven and Hell exist are claims made by the Christian religion, and many others (although the names often differ).
Christians (and others) claim that Heaven and Hell are real places to which people are sent after death.

The key word here is claim: the Christian (or other theist) is making a claim that two places exist. Heaven and Hell are the subjects of a specific claim, an existential claim, to be exact. An existential claim is a claim that a thing exists.

Contrary to the popular thinking, the atheist is not necessarily making the counterclaim that such places don't exist (although some do make this counterclaim). Most atheists are indifferent to the entire subject of theism and atheism, they don't care and they don't pay attention. Naturally they don't care about such side-issues as Heaven and hell!

Atheists say they have been given no valid reasons to grant assent to those claims. In other words, the Christians need to make a convincing argument that they are telling the truth when they talk about Heaven and Hell (or gods, etc.).

To answer your question, "would you be sad?" is answered by this: they don't care about such side-issues as Heaven and hell!

You see things as a theist and in this instance, you are casting an atheist into a place that you think exist and then proceed to ask if he would be sad on your assumptions. This is a form of "mind raping"

If hell turned out to be real and I ended up there for believing in thinking for myself, I think I would have good company. I think hell might just turn out to be a better place than Earth if so many of the world's most brilliant scientists end up there.

If I can't think in heaven, I don't want to end up there.

They would feel emense torture knowing that they are seperated from God for an eternity.........I am a Christian, and I love God very much. I cannot imagine eternity seperated from Him. The Bible says that Hell will be filled with the sounds of wailing and gnashing of teeth. The eternal Lake of Fire where there is no relief, or eternal Paradise, spent with the Heavenly Father who suffered, died, and rose again for YOU. Your choice.

We all just rot and fertilise the soil. However, If I'm wrong and I go to hell I'll have great company. All the rock stars and porn stars. YOU, on the other hand , will be stuck with god-bothering bores for all eternity while we party on. Fell free to drop in for drinks tho.

Let see. If I went to heaven. I wouldn't be my self but a clone of everyone else. Because we all know that bad thoughts aren't allowed in heaven.
If I go to hell I can still be me. Yet I will suffer.
But if I'm not me in heaven, would I not still be suffering?
Think about it.

Athesists don't go to heaven or hell when they die. They just rot in the soil and become part of the earth.

I think that I would mainly be angry that I was being tormented for a thought crime. It would be pretty cool if I lived such a good life that even an eternity of torture wouldn't upset me though.
