Of all things.. i am a machine operator at a paper mill.. there is danger lurking around every corner for me.. but I do my job well and I find that this works for me because of the lack of social interaction. I typically work 12 hour shifts and if everything is going well, I have the chance to sleep off the drowsyness that comes with the medication.. and everybody gives me some much needed space to deal with the good and bad times..
For other people, maybe a solitary type job like delivering newspapers would work.. simple and out of the public eye.. decent money for simple work and no stress.. and a 3 hour workday for even the longest routes..
I would not suggest something where the stress and social interaction would be more than your mind can adjust to or handle... and that eliminates juat about everything for us bipolar types.. not to mention all the stigmas that are sure to follow when coworkers know of the mental illness. At my job people know I tick to the tune of a different clock, and they have a basic understanding of it all.. enough so that they feel comfortable around me.. cautious.. but even in bad times, they seem to see what kind of day or week or month I am having.
Maybe something like a toll taker on a highway? simple job.. decent money.. and very little stress.. nobody ever wants to stop and chat.. they are always in a rush to get away from you.. and that is a good thing :)
Landscaping is typically solitary work?
Professional gardening is about the same..
I am sure there are many others that will show up here in the answers here for you to consider.
The important thing is to stay on your medication.. and life is a step closer to normal. for both you and those around you :)
Good Luck with this one.. it is tough to say the least :)

i've known many people and still do who worl all kinds of jobs with this disorder. from construction to being in bussiness. with the proper medication you can get great work. its not the job, but rather the people you want to work for that is the problem. by not understanding the disorder and just looking past it, they don't want you as they are ignorant themselves. i've hired in my lifetime many with disorders and disabilites and they worked harder than those who didn't. don't put limits on any job if your qualified for it. its against the law to discriminate based on disability and it covers these disorders. best of luck.

Yes. Being Your own boss at something could be that start to your Recovery... I have tons of Friends who have it. I would say.... A job in an office away from people answering Either a phone or Just e-mails would be a good start.

I'm a teacher and I think I am good at it.
You cannot limit yourself because you are bi polar. Make sure your meds are controlled and you are taking them. Don't make your illness be an excuse for not doing what YOU want to do.
There are psychiatrists that are bi-polar. Read the book called an unquiet mind by kaye jamison.

Maybe warehouse.UPS. Use the time your angry to load big heavy boxes onto the trucks, then when your mood switches back to nice you can use that time county boxes and doing inventory.
