This happened many years ago, but I will always remember it...
I had been invited to a dinner party, and hadn't been feeling very well (flu, virus, or something related to that), the day that it was to take place. Well, I began feeling a bit better as the day progressed, and had really been looking forward to going to this party, so decided to go, regardless (yes, I'm a fool, lol). I was doing fine, having fun, and was being very careful about what I ate and drank. In time however, I began feeling a bit nauseous. I tried sipping on club soda, and began to feel a bit better. I continued to do well, until I saw someone eating oysters!! Oh my god....just the sight of these nasty, slimy things, had me practically running to the nearest bathroom to regurgitate!! I was deathly sick for the rest of the night, and into the next day! No matter how hard I tried to get the image of oysters out of my head, I just couldn't do it!! :(
I knew that the oysters really had nothing to do with my getting sick, but to this day, I am unable to even get CLOSE to anyone eating oysters. At the time this happened, I had never even tasted an oyster. To this day, I've yet to taste one, and probably never will. :)

Hot dog and Kraft Dinner. I've never been a huge fan of either, but I could usually choke them down. Then, two years ago I had HD and KD before going to work, made it about an hour into my shift, and blew chunks on my way to the bathroom. It was so not fun. It's a shame though, cause I didn't really mind KD, with extra cheese. But I still can't stand the sight or smell of a hot dog, but I'll eat sausage no problem. Weird huh?
I've also had an experience similar to your involving McDonald's pizza and a bad driver (who coincidently is a taxi driver). I ate there several times before this happened, but that was about ten years ago, and I have never gone back.

I imagine most people have, at one time or another, connected a certain food to a bad experience.
After a bad experience back in college involving popcorn and screwdrivers, I didn't want orange juice or popcorn for many years. I eventually got over both aversions, but I'm still not a great fan of either.

Mayo, to me, is the most foul smelling thing on the planet.. dunno why-but it could be cuz my Dad coats mayo on every food item that enters his mouth- including things that don't require mayo. I can't think of anything at the moment.. but like... cereal... ya know.. things that totally don't deserve to be smothered!! I also can't stand the sight/smell of cottage cheese. Again.. dunno why.
The only bad food story I have isn't really all that bad. I took a drug one time in my life. My boyfriend made me some kraft macaroni and cheese outta the box while I was under the influence of this drug- the one with the powdered 'cheese', if you could call it that, that you mix with milk and butter in a pot on the stove. It was my all time favorite snack food. Whelp.. this drug I took made the macaroni and cheese (which was usually a splendid snack) taste like dry cardboard. Each noodle was absolutely coated in what tasted like the powdered cheese before it was cooked with the milk and butter. My mouth was dry... the noodles were tasteless. To this day I can look at a box of Kraft and totally recreate that sensation in my mouth instantaneously. I have never eaten it, again.

I cannot eat plums. My cousin and I picked many off of a tree at my grandfather's house when we were little and we ate them. I got so sick. Now I cannot eat them.
Pepperoni Pizza. We were stationed in Germany and I ate pepperoni pizza at a local pizza joint. I had the worst case of heart burn. The next day I had symptoms of a stomach virus (which it was) but I associate being ill to pepperoni pizza and gag when my kids eat it.

pastrami, cannot even look at it to this day. Was on vacation with my best friend & her family and her mom made pastrami. I never had it before and it wasn't bad. That night I woke up having a nightmare that her little sister was chasing me around with a huge steaming platter of pastrami. I woke up hurling. That was about 25 years ago and still churns my stomach.

Over 50 years ago, I opened a jar of crunchy peanut butter. It had turned rancid and the smell made me sick. To this day, I can't stand it. The funny thing is that I like the creamy.

My husband can't, or WON'T, eat shrimp because he claims he is allergic to it. Actually, he probably had food poisoning this one time, long ago, in the '70s, and really doesn't have an allergy. It's also sad because I love shrimp so much I could eat it every day.
