I have an article from a major medical research that states that popping your nuckles simply releases air in them and dosn't cause big nuckles or arthritis in them either. It is just an old wives tale.

There is a fluid inside your joints that solidifs on standing, and when you twist or flex you jiont you hear a "pop". This it the solid going back into the liquid phase. If it gets real bad and painful, that means you are on the verge of arthritus. Doctors can (and almost alway do) prescribe anti inflammatory drugs (the best I knew of was celebrex - before the took it off the market) to relieve the pain and makes this fluid soilify at a much higher mp (hence more joint mobilty - and not more pain and pops. Main thing is to see you doctor and get treatment - it's not going to go away on it's own - it happens to all of us with age, and some of us at an even younger age (unfortunately).

Cracking your knuckles causes strain on the tissue between the bone in the joints. Which can lead to arthritis which can be very painful. I used to do it and I have had arthritis since I was 18.

Yes it is bad for fingers as the liquids in the joints goes off and so it will loose flexibility in movement.

Nope. Not true. An urban legend. Look up Snopes.com for the scoop on this and many other urban legends. Very enlightening. Also, I have arthritis in my knuckles and I never popped my joints, so I guess I'm what you'd call living proof that it's not true. <*)))><

No.
Cracking your knuckles is only releasing tiny nitrogen bubbles from the joint.
It does not cause large knuckles. It does not cause arthritis.
