A friend is a minister and he says Its a great way to get wealthy. You usually get great benefits free housing. A Car should be provided and almost all of your expensis are covered. If you run a large church you should be able to clear close to a hundred thousand dollars a year. The downside Is that you will often have to tell people things that you know deep down are untrue. He also doesn't like the hippocracy of his congregation.

Do not expect what you just mentioned. True, some of those big Churches may give you those things, but, the majority not get much. Sometimes there an old house by the Church you can live in for free. They do that so you will mow the Building's grass when you mow your yard. Sometimes they may take up a "Love Offering" to give you some cash, but, most have a job somewhere or their wife works. NOW, like mentioned above, IF, you just trying to make money you can lie and that stuff to make the people believe they need to support you. All I know.

Expect that you will be dealing with people who will come to you for advise. Expect that you will be dependent on what people tithe every week. Expect that you will probably have weak health care benefits and that some churches MAY provide housing, but some will not. Expect that you will have to get a second job to help support your family. Expect that you will have to learn how to write out applications for grants. Expect that you will have bad days and even worse nights. Expect that some people will look to you to do the right thing and if you are one step out of line, you will be run out of town and criticized harshly.

You probably shouldn't do it.

"Health care benefits? 401K? Housing provided? Car? Household help? Personal assistant? Expense account? Travel expenses?"

You should be willing to be dirt poor.

It depends, Are you being called of God or are you doing this on your own. As the wife of a Preacher, Pastor, that was called of God, I can tell you to expect to spend a lot of time on your knees, Expect your so called friends that you have now to turn their backs on you, if you preach, the Word, expect to be criticized in every way, to have lies told on you and to have your children and wife to be laughed at in all different ways. But as long as you keep preaching the Word of God your reward in heaven will be great. I could go on but there is not enough room. If you what to become a preacher just to get rich, just make sure you never tell the people they are wrong, never peach the Word the way it is written and you will make it.

According to Scripture: greater accountability and judgment. “How can they preach except they be sent”? Poorly, is my best guess, but it seems at great financial reward. Try being a social worker in the slums. Less hours, more results, less risk of eternal judgment, and a higher class clientele…(at least when THEY stab you in the back, they don't try to justify it with Bible verses)

Having doors slammed in your face when come to preach
People snoring in the pews during your sermons
Low attendance on Super Bowl Sunday
And one last thing....
Me not attending your church...lol

Expect to mislead people everyday into following a fable to run their lives by.

Expect to ignore whole sections of the bible and eventually not have it bother you any more. Unless you are already an atheist, like many priests are.
