I have found that making fruit and/or chocolate flavored whey protein smoothies have been an easy way for me to include vitamins into my diet!

I have been trying to stay away from fast food and replace my want for junk with smoothies. I'm also working on toning my body and eating healthy: low cal, low fat, low sugar...
I have acne though and I was wondering if specific fruits would help calm my skin or if you have any other recommendations or recipes to help clear up skin? Thanks!

I like Melons. They're high in water content. Water is great for the skin!

Here's a page that gives tips on which fruits to eat for great skin.

I've always been told to stay away from fried foods to avoid acne, but I never had a problem with acne. What I've been taught is to keep your skin clean every night, before bed. Change you pillow case every week, because the oil from your face goes right in there. Wash your pillow reglarly too or keep a vinyl backed cover on it, under your pillow case. Don't wear makeup...something that a lot of girls will have a hissy about, but very important if you want clear skin. Makeup blocks the pores and promotes break-outs. Use a light, oil free moisturizer sparingly after you wash your face, so that your skin won't feel so tight. When buying cleaning products for your face, make sure they're oil free, so that all you'll have is clean skin when you're done. Do a once a week spa treatment, using a facial scrub and steam treatment (I use a hot pot of water with a towel over my head, steaming my face for about 15-20 minutes). Find products that work well in your budget. Simple is best. Read labels. Some of even the most expensive products have the same ingredients as the cheaper things. Stay away from heavy creams. I don't always recommend many name brand products, but I would give Avon's line, Clearskin, a try. It's not expensive and has many products that tackle lots of different situations. And stay out of the sun. Put sunblock on, even if you wear a hat or stay in the shade. Eat a balanced diet, free from added sugars, and high in veggies, fruits and fiber. Get lots of exercise, including swimming. It sounds like you're getting on the right track, so just continue learning all you can about what your body needs. Do the best you can. It's been my experience that some acne clears up, in time. Some doesn't. You might need to see your dermatologist to see what he suggests for your particular situation. No two people are the same, so no two treatments will be just right for you. Hopefully, you'll grow out of this stage and everything will clear up soon. <*)))><

What you eat has little or no effect on acne, it was all just a myth. If you want to help your skin, keep it clean and use an oil-free light moisturizer daily (or nightly if you prefer). Stay out of intense sunlight or wear an oil-free sunscreen. you may also want to get a toner or astringent to help dry up oily areas and existing blemishes, as well as deep-clean your pores. If you wear makeup, you might want to try replacing your foundations and concealers (opt for mineral powders or a good-quality brand like physician's formula that has no oil) and wash your makeup brushes and applicators often. You can try a few of the masques too, there are a lot to choose from that include all natural ingredients and exfoliants to even out your skin and make it feel silky smooth.

As for your other lifestyle changes, congratulations, you are on your way to the best you ever! ^_^ Stick with it and best of luck!

Colorful Fruits – The vivid orange, yellow and deep purple colors found in fruits like blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and melon make them a delicious topping to cereal, salads and yogurt. However, berries are rich in antioxidants – which protect the skin against damage caused by free radicals. Berries have been shown to effectively curb the signs of aging skin. Also, just a handful overflows with the goodness of vitamin C; which your body needs in order to produce collagen and keep skin firm. Orange fruits like melons and tangerines are rich in beta-carotene and vitamin A – two nutrients that can mend deep wrinkles and skin damage.
