You are just 24 hours away from the cravings to really stop. I quit cold turkey on Aug 8th, 2005 and it took 3 days for me. It may be different for you though. Now don't think the cravings will just disappear completely but they are manageable! The thought of a cig will go away about 1/2-3/4 of the time and everyday will become easier and easier I can promise you that. I go about two weeks now without thinking about a cig. Hang in there... you can do it. I never thought I'd be able to but I did. You are stronger than the craving. I used a straw to hold like a cig when the craving was bad. I used sunflower seeds and Jolly Ranchers. When I had a craving I got up and started doing the dishes anything to get my mind off the cig. You can do it!!! Just find something to get your mind off the craving. Just remember you will breathe better and there will be no more crackling noise at night in your chest! You have made the committment to quit..... all you have to do now if follow through! GOOD LUCK!!!

As long as you are getting a regular supply of nicotine the cravings will continue. After you discontinue using nicotine of any type the cravings will be gone in 5-7 days. That is about how long it takes for the brain to get over it's chemical dependency to nicotine, but as long as you are still getting it then you will never rid your brain of it's need for it. You will have a much more difficult time getting over the habit or physical addiction to nicotine so expect that there will likely be times when you want to smoke even after you are no longer chemically craving it. The best way to over come these cravings is to remember that you are a non smoker and non smoker don't smoke only smoker do. I hope I have been of some help to you. Best wishes

It takes about 3 days for the physical cravings to pass. I would give up the gum, it's not going to help and it costs more than cigarettes.

I quit cold turkey 18 years ago (from 1 pack per day), and to this day, I sometimes crave a cigarette (not frequently, though). I find this most often happens when I am in a bar/club setting drinking alcohol, which again, is infrequent. Good luck. You can do it!

Smoking is an addiction. Compulsion = Addiction and if you are strong enough mentally to find a healthier outlet to relieve your craving such as exercise then you should be fine! Just keep your mind and body busy when you get a craving!Good Luck!

It takes 21 days to break a habit. The craving for nicotine will be expedited by the amount of detoxing you do. Plenty of vitamin C, water, water and did i mention WATER?. The faster you flush your system (detoxify it) the faster the cravings will leave. GOOD LUCK!!!

Cravings can last up to six weeks, depending on how much you were smoking. When my dad quit he quit cold, saying the gum and patches just kept him addicted to the nicotine.
