People consider it the word of God because they believe it was divinely inspired, in that a man wrote a book, but the Lord guided Him in what to say.

The Bible ultimately was created by God, but it wasn't just flown in from Heaven. It took many centuries of dedicated Church officials to weigh all the scripture that was floating about and see what coincided with the way they were teaching the faith as it was passed down from the Apostles.

These Church officials were the Popes and Bishops of the Catholic Church. Apostolic Tradition and Teachings were handed down through the successors of the Apostles, whom Jesus charged with the mission to teach. It was these successors who had the Holy Spirit guiding them to correctly choose which scripture would become part of the Bible.

As I said above, they did this with much prayer and a whole lot of discussion as to what books taught what the Catholic Church had been teaching the past couple hundred years.

It was in the 4th century that a canon of the Bible had been established, however, the Pope did not declare the discussion finished. There were still a few books that were being considered and were thought that they might be part of the canon, but as of yet the Church couldn't rule either way.

This canon lasted from the 4th century until the 16th century when a german monk named Martin Luther created two doctrines which were different from the teaching of Christianity the since its beginning 1500+ years earlier. This one man closed the canon of his own accord leaving out the books that were still being considered because they had passages which did not agree with his doctrines. The Church in response, felt led to include this books under the same authority of the Holy Spirit that they were given from the beginning and used to first begin creating the Bible.

Luckily a few friends of Luther convinced him to keep from throwing out even more books, which he did not want because, again, he thought they didn't agree with his new doctrines of faith.

Typically, you get a few different answers to your question. Nobody, except for a few extremists, will deny the Catholic Church historically chose the books of the Bible. However, if you are talking to a Protestant they no longer accept the authority of the Catholic Church (the same authority which gave them the Bible they use) so with each unique person you talk to you will receive a unique answer as to why it is considered the word of God.

Catholics recognize, as Protestants do inherently, that the authority of the Catholic Church was present in the 4th century, but did not vanish since such an authority was given to the apostles and their successors - the popes and bishops. Therefore, Catholics will tend to agree with a saying of St. Augustine:

""If you should find someone who does not yet believe in the gospel, what would you [Mani] answer him when he says, ‘I do not believe’? Indeed, I would not believe in the gospel myself if the authority of the Catholic Church did not move me to do so" (ibid., 5:6).

Man created the bible. People consider it to be "the word of God", but, MEN wrote the bible over hundreds of years. There are literally thousands of versions and interpretations, AND, there are NO (count 'em) 1st person accounts of ANY of the stories in the bible. This is not to say that the bible has no meaning... it does. We All need to learn how to live in Peace and the bible is one of many texts that can help each one of us on our individual path to Peace.

there is diffinetly universal thruth in the bible and also other books, does that make one true and the next untrue. The words the stem from the truth will and always been the word of God.
So it was in the begining so shall it be in the end, thats where thruth lies. What ever has life has thruth. For God created all that lives, and what man create cannot produce it self that is the word of God that is thruth. From that, look for thruth in what has life, and the word may be revealed to you.

The Bible is the Word of God. Though He did not write it with His Hands, He inspired it through men. It's like when you cheat on a test. Your friend whisphers the answer in your ear and you write it down. Your friend said the answer, but you wrote it in your own words. The author's, by definintion, are many. Everyone from Paul to Solomon to Mark. You can find this included in most bibles.

One of the best reasons is Prophecy, take daniel for example, it fortells all about History, in fact History is but prophecy in reverse. About 150 years or so and many different kinds of folks wrote this Bible and yet it agree's with each other, Jesus when He was here when He spoke quoted The Bible, investage it with prayer and A open heart, check out the places He said no one would ever live there see who lives there check out prophecy, seek and He promises YOU will find "IF" you seek Him with ALL your heart, God bless, more questions, either contact me wgr88@yahoo.com or take a free Bible course www.itiswritten.com

I'm muslim, we believe in bible as a holly book created by God and given to Moses, his messenger through an angel. The goal of the bible is to guide all people at that period to believe in God and to work for the progress of humanity. Unfortunately it was "updated" by hands of hundred of "religious jews" to be suitable for them, and lot of myth is put there to create an ambiance of hollyness. Bible was made to be replaced by new testament through the next messenger Jesus who was not his son and neither a god. bla bla

Many different folks contributed to the bible. People consider it the word of God, because that's what they're told it is, and that's what they're taught it is. If they develop faith from these teachings, there is no convincing them that it is not the word of God.

But you need to ask some of the "believers" why they consider it the "word of god", and why god did not send his word in a protected format that could not be changed so often by Kings who wanted other wives and men who wanted to subjugate women and Catholics and Mormons who wanted to add stuff or leave stuff out!
