Much depends on the particular drug screen, you know; if it is a NIDA prescribed drug screen, they don't even test for benzodiazepines (the drug class of valium); not a problem. The "NIDA 5" are: opiates, cocaine, amphetamines, marijuana and phencyclidine. No Benzos!

Most drug non-regulated drug screens add any one of a number of different things, usually including barbiturates, propoxyphene and benzodiazepines. If it's an unregulated drug screen, 6 weeks is a good rule of thumb. Many vagaries of metabolism are, as the eariler answerer, major players on answering this, as is the body type (some benzodiazepine metabolites are very soluable in fat, and can take longer to clear)...

What they measure are, of course, the metabolites....

This actually depends on his metabolism. They don't actually test for valium. It's broken down by the liver and is changed into another type of drug.......they test for that. What I understand is that it could take anywhere up to around 45 days for it to be clear........depending also on the frequency he takes it and how much he takes it at a time. Also, I need to tell you that valium is a central nervous system depressant.....and is good for making people stop breathing....especially if they mix it with other drugs or alcohol. Tell him to be very careful, don't need him to become a statistic. Best of luck
