It's like 25C all day and you go to a resturaunt or bar to cool off and have a drink and the next thing you feel is this blast of heat from above. For those that don't like a nice cool breeze on your hot skin in the evening on a patio, bring a sweater or stay inside. It's summer!

Does anyone else hate propane heaters on patios? It ruins my meal.

I asked a waitress to turn the heater off. She did. Another patron sits down and is cold and the heater is turned back on. I then ask for the heater to be turned back off. This game should not be played. In fact, I ask to seated in an area away from the heater and ask beforehand that they not be turned on. It does not seem to register.

Vancouver is by the ocean, so there is a definite breeze in the evening. When the sun is up there is no need for the heaters, but they can be nice during the evening (even in summer). I was on a rooftop patio in Victoria BC last night, and it was very nice to have the heaters! However, the restaurant needs to have a policy on turning them on or off, and have seating to accomodate people of all temperatures!

I am not sure but I belive the heaters are there because so many times Vancouver is rainy. Also, mosquitos and other bugs don't like the heat.
