You've offended his or her sense of security. Oh well. They'll live.

I once had a man working in the next cubicle from me and he came up to me and said that the Lord told him that I should repent or the Lord was going to give my soul to the Devil.

I was rather non-plussed at that. I mean, it is not everyday that the Supreme Being contacts me, let alone some guy next to me. I thought about that a bunch. Tried to separate the message from the messenger, as it were. Tried to figure out what had wigged this guy (who BTW has oodles of guns in his home, I mean an arsenal!) so badly.

Understand that I have had two "life-after-life" experiences and am in no way a Christian or any other religious denomination. However, I have firm proof of experience that a Supreme Being loves me. No, I am not too sure about you or anyone else. *grin* Just kidding. I think all of you folks are fine, too.

So, rather than fight with him or debate, I looked for commonalities with him. I mean, he kind of wished he had gotten a chance to go out killing humans like I had in Vietnam. So we talked the 2nd Amendment and how that is a good thing. We talked about the importance of teaching kids how to read and write (and not just playing video games). You know, basic things. Later, I taught him a bit about the Stock Market.

The whole point about this is, email is kind of impersonal. You got to just hit the delete key. Don't tar the whole of Christianity or Islam or Catholicism or LDS or Buddhism or Hinduism or JWs or whatever because of a few fanatics. They are scared. They really have only one record to play and if you tell them they have to choose something themselves, it is a horrible responsibility. They may screw up. Whatever their religious drug of choice is, it is comforting. It is like trying to sell a Ford to a Chevy owner or a Canon camera to a Nikon owner. Just does not work.

Soft answers turn away wrath. Write back and tell your detractors that you are praying to the Flying Spaghetti Monster on their behalf.

Keep in mind that the people who do this do so because they have their own doubts that what they are doing and believing is right, so they put down others to feel superior and rightous.

No one who was genuinely a "good" Christian would write hate mail because that's not the message they are supposed to send out.

Plus it always amazes me how many people think that being rude to others will make them change their mind.

So..to all you looney tunes that keep sending this kind of garbage to anyone else....all you do is confirm the recipients believe that you are a lunatic.

If you really are a good "Christian" than you should be practicing acts of love and understanding, of welcoming and understanding.
Kind of like what your bible tells you Jesus would do! Besides, God sees everything, don't you KNOW he can see the hateful things you are doing?

Like all bigots....hatred is born out of ignorance. So pity the nuts...

You know, I get these quite often. Without looking at any questions or answers you've posted, I can only assume that you speak against Christian beliefs, back up your posts with science and question all that they feel is right and holy. Right?

They send us mail like this because we encourage people to think for themselves and make their own observations and decisions. Those who send email like that believe it is their duty to point the finger at others, blame everyone else and in the end make them feel like they're spreading word of God and doing God's work.

I wish they would realize that just as your arguments are not likely to waiver their faith, their arguments and threats are certainly not going to turn you into a God-fearing Christian.

Keep up what you're doing! You're sharing your thoughts and beliefs with others, which is the whole point of Y! Answers!

Not to worry, they said that God forgives everyone......It's true!! So that means all the Christians out there, hassling you, will end up in the imaginary hot place that they are threatening you with because they are judging you and merely playing the god role. Therefore, if God really does forgive, then why is there a place called hell? It would then, be empty, right? How dare they assume they can scare the bejesus out you like that! God will forgive them too!

I do not see it as a hate mail...no more than what you have been writing to other people..You need to repent, like all of us. It means you need to leave your bad ways and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior...

Jesus loves you magneto...or whoever you are today and tomorrow...The gift of everlasting life is offered to you too...and if you do not want to be with God, you will not...YOUR CHOICE!

When we are trying to say to you change, we do not mean your ID name...I have been with Q's and A's only two weeks, and during that time you have been morpheus, troll_evolution, socrates, neo_darwin and now...magneto...what is up with that???

That was the extent of the message?

*sigh*

I don't think it's accurate to call hate-mongers Christian. I do think that people who send crap like that have too much time on their hands, and you know the saying, "Idle hands are the devil's tools." :P

I also believe that anyone who tells another person s/he needs to repent has control and denial issues. No one is in a position to judge whether anyone needs to repent, and anyone who spends time examining MY faults is obviously not tending his own garden.

Why is that person sticking his nose in your business? Who is he to judge? What do you want to bet he's got his own shadowy issues that he's not dealing with?

And the issue with hell is BS anyway. There is nothing my kids could do---NOTHING---that would make me consign them to eternal torment. Nothing would make me do that to someone I love, whatever they chose.

Hell is here.

As a Christian, I must say this is the most crudely worded and rude attempt at proselytizing I've seen in a long while.
Only expressing the love God has shown to you to others can have any positive effect.
Let me apologize on behalf of my self-proclaimed brother in Christ.
May God bless you richly.

Christians send hate mail for the same reason everyone else would... they hate themselves and can't take all of said hatred all bottled up, so they release it...
and in this case, it's in the form of a condescending e-mail in an attempt to make others feel badly about themselves so they, by comparison, don't feel as bad. It's poor logic, but there's your answer.

God is supposedly the only one who can condemn you to hell, and I believe that it is written in the Bible somewhere..."judge not, lest you be judged also". Christians seem to be the first ones to forget that one. It seems to me that belonging to one religion or another is simply a form of licensed conceit, and the adherents to each sect spend so much time condemning others, but no time in helping each other and those around them, which I believe is what Jesus wanted us all to do. Where's the so-called Christian Charity that is supposed to be prevalent in Christianity.

I just read the majority of your arguements concerning atheists... VERY detailed and im already familiar on the subjects discussed so I eally didn't see your point in where god fit into the picture, or didn't. Anyhow hate mail sounds like from someone who had good intentions( like you not having to be thrown into the pit of eternal fire) but has seemed to make you feel like it came from a place of hate.... I don't think they hate you they just think they're helping you.... Just tell them thanks and laugh at they're sillyness unless you're scared about this pit of fire???????
