Meats:
Meats should be boneless and it’s best if the skin is removed. I don’t consider raw meat a good idea because of the small risk of food poisoning and parasites.
Skinless, boneless chicken breast
Skinless, boneless turkey breast
Boneless fish
Vegetables:
Dogs have shorter digestive tracts than humans and cannot digest most vegetables whole or in large chunks. It’s best to put them through a food processor before giving them to your dog
Carrots (I trained my dog w/ baby carrots)
Green Beans
Lettuce
Potatoes
Yams
Grains:
Grains should not be given in large amounts or make up a large part of a dog’s diet, but these foods are generally safe in small amounts
Rice
Bread
Dairy products
Use caution with dairy products as they are high in fat and can cause pancreatitis, gas and diarrhea. Usually, nonfat plain yogurt is safe in small amounts
Some foods dogs should not eat:
Grapes and Raisins: Grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure in dogs. As little as a single serving of raisins can kill a dog
Onions: Onions destroy red blood cells and can cause anemia.
Chocolate: Chocolate can cause seizures, coma and death. Baker’s chocolate is the most dangerous. A dog can consume milk chocolate and appear to be fine because it is not as concentrated, but it is still dangerous.
Coffee, Coffee grounds, tea and tea bags: Drinks/foods containing caffeine cause many of the same symptoms chocolate causes
Macadamia Nuts: Macadamia nuts can cause weakness, muscle tremor and paralysis.
Animal fat and fried foods: Excessive fat can cause pancreatitis.
Bones: Bones can splinter and damage a dog’s internal organs.
Tomatoes: Tomatoes can cause tremors and heart arrhythmias. Tomatoe plants and the most toxic, but tomatoes themselves are also unsafe.
Avocados: The fruit, pit and plant are all toxic. They can cause difficulty breathing and fluid accumulation in the chest, abdomen and heart
Nutmeg: Nutmeg can cause tremors, seizures and death
Apples, Cherries, Peaches and similar fruit: The seeds of these fruits contain cyanide, which is poisonous to dogs as well as humans. Unlike humans, dogs do not know to stop eating at the core/pit and easily ingest them.
Raw eggs: Raw eggs can cause salmonella poisoning in dogs. Dogs have a shorter digestive tract than humans and are not as likely to suffer from food poisoning, but it is still possible.
Salt: Excessive salt intake can cause kidney problems.

Before you give your pet ANY vegetables please check with your pet poison control. Log on to any pet protection sites like ASPCA, HSUS. Some Veggies like onions and broccoli can be very bad. I recently found out grapes can kill dogs. When I'm training I buy beef liver or roast and have it cut up for jerky. I buy meat that on sale, you know that is almost expired, but not quite! I cook my own jerky in a food dehydrator using NO spices or preservatives. When it is cooked I freeze it. It is great for treats when training. The liver is very good for them, and I haven't met a dog yet that will turn it down. I also use it for treats in my grooming shop. I also use sardines! (If you can stand the smell while it's cooking) That is the best thing in the world for your dogs coat and skin. A Sardine a day for dogs will clear up almost any skin condition there is, unless it's Staff or bacterical or fungal infection. Then you need medication of course. If you can't stand the smell you can purchase capsules at your Vet. They are Omega fatty acid capsuls. They come under various names but are all the same. Sixty which is a two month supply is only about twelve dollars and does almost as good as the Sardines. If your dog won't chew it up, the first time or two, punch a hole in it with a pin and squeeze the oil into their mouths. After that most are happy to bite into them. I can shake my bottle and my dogs come out of the woodwork. They love them. Hot dogs can be dehydrated the same way, (be sure to slice them VERY thin),but they are loaded with too much salt and preservatives so use hot dogs sparingly. You can purchase a food dehydrator at Wal-Mart for very little money. Hey, you can even make Jerky for yourself they have great recipes for humans. Yum.

Actually there are human dog and cat food testers. They do this for a living, tasting the food at the factories and ensuring they taste good and are fit for our pets to eat. You won't be poisoned, but they are not what your taste buds will enjoy. Dog biscuits are not like cookies and biscuits. LOL I have tried them . Even as a child I would sneak with my brother and eat the cat food. Till we got caught by my older brother, who said, Cat food is made from horse meat. I don't know it it is true. That put me off for life. I learned my lesson, one warning only.

I use liverworst, first of all because its gross and I will never eat it myself and second of all dogs love it. Its better to use something in training situations that you don´t eat yourself because it will encourage your dog to beg if you use something you enjoy eating. The best way to give a special treat like groundbeef or veggies, is to always serve it in their own food dish, this way they learn that its only acceptable to eat the food in their own dish, and not from your dish. It helps set the pack order.

honestly no human food is good for dogs - they just do not digest it well but if you are looking for an inexpensive treat for training - pop a bag of pocorn and put it in a sealed container - dogs love it and you have treats readily available

First of all do NOT give them beef (raw or cooked)........give them veggies.
Carrots
Cauliflower
Broccoli
Beans (green or yellow)
.....Basically anything that has a good texture and that doesn't contain a lot of acids like peppers or anything stringy like celery......never give an animal celery.
Oh and cheese.....they LOVE cheese.
And as a good reward "toy treat" put a bit of peanut butter or cheese whizz inside a Kong throw it on the floor and watch them go to town.....lol.....they freak over peanut butter!!!
Have fun and GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

pretty much anything you want to. Do not feed dog chocolate as choc. can be fatal to a dog. onions and tomatoes are not good as they do something to the digestional track. i feed mine raw meat along with veggies. They love lunch meat, and hotdogs.

Nothing will compare to dog treats, but my puppy likes brocolli from Applebees. They taste GROSS to me, so I don't mind my dog eating it. Plus, it's healthy right? Brocolli. haha. but after reading the person above, I'm a little worried. My dog seems fine. She loves her brocolli.
