Why people take acid?

In the 60's, people took acid to make the
world weird. Now the world is weird and people take
Prozac to make it normal.

My number one reason - To get high.
some people take it for spiritual journeys, some think its got evil spirits with it. lots of things to be said about this thing. People didnt take it to make the world "weird" the world was weird then just as much as it is now. I know lots of old hippies that will tell you point blank that it was for them to feel connected or normal and not tainted by the negativites of society around them.
That would be their form of prozac then. Its all a matter of perception and the fact reality is subjective. If you have this hole in your soul that you cant heal on your own from understanding, and dealing with it in your own way, you are addicted in the basic form that you "need" something to make you feel whole or normal. Kinda the same withdrawl that leads to marrage break ups, people think this person makes them feel like they are supposed to and eventually the feeling fades and that loneliness and feeling of being isolated and not understood in the world returns. So... why people take it? Better only take some ones answer with a grain of salt if they have done it, and not at all if they havnt. Do it yourself and ask why they do it would be a better way to figure this out. :) Sell fufilling prophecies are extreme on this drug. do not do it if you are depressed, or not able to overcome adversity, or think negative, draining, hateful, angry thoughts. Its ok to be assertive and aggressive in doing tasks. you can turn your back on a person, but never turn your back on a drug, especially if its waving a razor sharp hunting knife in your eye. Yep, take it, and say, what is their to like about this, and invision being in the mind set of other people who like this and prozac. Try to see the world with different eyes. Difficult as this maybe. If anything can help with this task, this drug definately could. Eventually this drug leads to a door that you have to walk through without the drug. You can find it with out the drug, but thats no fun. But ya gotta walk through it to understand why ya do it. Dont be beavis and butthead

I went through about 2 or 3 years were all we did was drop acid. (Not that long ago) The trip depends on the dose. Some acid is really harsh with a lot of strychnine in it. It can make your stomach cramp, back hurt, teeth grind (which is why you will see people chewing on straws and plastic cups) and it gives you a very...GRRRRR kind of trip. Good when you're in the mood to listen to Marilyn Manson or Gwar. Good, really good acid is very mellow. You really don't full on hallucinate. It's more like the colors are brighter, patterns move, walls breathe, that kind of thing. Taking acid is like going on vacation with strangers. You never know how the trip is going to turn out, but you can be guaranteed it's going to be a wild ride.

First of all we people of the 60's generation did not take acid to make the world weird. We simply liked the high.

Most of the time you just laugh and laugh at anything and everything. It really affects your perception of things. A really good dose is partly like an eye exam (extensive) colors, changing such a feeling of being connected to the people you are tripping with.

What they sell as LSD today I would not take. It's cut way too much with who knows what

the drug called acid is not like acid that will eat holes in you or any thing else it was given that name for other reasons. people take it for the different levels of highs you get from it, on one level you see beautiful colors.and other levels you get laughter, where every thing normal is very funny etc.etc, although there's more to it than just this. if you have personal problems,or suffer from low self esteem you should not take it. well you shouldn't take it anyhow it is a drug that alters the mind, you have to know what you are getting into when taking acid. i don't recommend it.

why do people take any type of drug? acid is in no way even close in comparison with prozac. a lot of us self medicate for various reasons.

haha... i like that -- how ironic isn't it?
i've never tried acid so i don't know what the effects are like. well, i heard that they "lift" you up -- kinda the opposite of depression. i don't know... i really don't have experience in this area that's why i don't know what to say.
