For soft and silky use a deep conditioner once a week; leave it on for about thirty minutes and rinse with cool water. Never wash your hair with hot or too warm water since it strips your natural oils. Also, if you colour your hair you should always use a moisturizing shampoo and a regular conditioner thrice a week.
As for long, simply let it grow and trim the ends only every three months.

To make it soft and silky and healthy (which will make your hair grow) you need to mix about 1 tb spoon of mayo with 1 raw egg

It sounds sick but use eggs....

There are products out there but they don't have the protein.

Along with eggs use butter or some fat, again sounds sick but the protein in the eggs and fat will help give hair a silky feel.

Good luck!!!!

This is kind of an old remedy but try this stuff called Mane and Tail shampoo and conditioner. You can find it at your (I know this sounds funny) co-op or feed store. Its actually for horses but works great and I think has moved into the shampoo aisle of the drug store.

Conditioning and constant trips to your stylist for trims that will rid of split ends. It really depends on the condition of your hair. Your best bet is to ask your stylist.

Try to use a conditioner every time you wash your hair. Trust me you should wash your hair every night.
