What is it? I'm losing weight, and I want to work on my abs..and I went to a website that said that crunches won't do anything without doing 20 minutes of cardio...So..I feel stupid because I don't know what cardio is...could someone please tell me ...

Its any activity that raises your heart rate such as running or bicycling or aerobics.

cardio is stuff that elevates your heart rate for an extended period of time

for example--biking, running, rowing a boat, elliptical, jumprope, basketball all are great examples of cardio

crunches build muscle--and is anerboic (depriving oxygen) while cardio is aerobic (requiring oxygen)...cardio burns fat, while anerobic exercises like lifting weights build muscle

so without less fat, your abs won't show--even after millions of situps or crunches
cut the fat and the abs will show

Cardio is the medical term used to reference the heart. From Greek kardia: heart. The Greek spelling using k is the reason for the usage of K in EKG (electrocardiogram).

Also used in reference to exercises and/or equipment intended for cardiovascular fitness and endurance training (aerobic exercise).

Cardio means something that involves your heart because your heart is a MUSCle and to make your heart faster better and stronger we do cardiovascualr activity such as running jogging walking or sprinting.Cardio exercise is really important it prolongs your life and it helps prevent cardiovascular diseases and chronic illness and even heart disease.

Anything that gets your heart rate up for an extended period of time.

Running, jogging, walking fast, rowing, aerobics, dance, box, swimming..hell..hop up and down for a while. You need to get the heart rate up, keep it up and increase your oxygen flow...
