I had to do the same thing and it sucked. But fortunately, middle school is a pretty good time to go to a new school. While some people will stay in their "clicks" from elementary school, most are trying to get new friends too.
The best thing to do is join a sport or club. This gives you easy access to new friends that you can bond with and something fun to do as well.
Also talk to your neighbors in your science/math classes so you can study together. I still have study partners from 7th grade as friends.
Just be open, don't be on the defensive and don't be scared of rejection :)

Shyness is just a state of mind. Overcoming shyness is as easy as taking the initiative to introduce yourself to your new classmates, with a warm smile.
I am sure you are a very likeable person, so just be your own graceful self and you will draw people toward you. I know every school has its own rude and crude bunch, and that's really demotivating for a new entrant. Never let their idiotic words hurt you. Just ignore those barking dogs.

Ask your Mom to help you out. This summer work on getting some great clothes. They do make a difference. If you look nice it really changes how kids think of you in a new school. Next play it cool for a few days. Everyone will be nice to you because you are new. Just don't make "friends" with anyone too quick. Try to figure out who the kids are that you would like to hang out with. Then just start sitting near them at lunch and stuff. You will find it is easy to make the kind of friends you want.
