First, even though it may seem like your hair is very dry, you will need to remove the buildup. This is easy, mix one part white vinegar to three parts water. Shampoo your hair once. Do not scratch your head or this will sting. Second, apply the solution evenly and take a big toothed comb and gently work it through your hair. Rinse and then shampoo a second time. This will leave your hair receptive to anything else you do to it. If it is fried, try applying color because color coats the hair shaft and will actually leave your hair in better shape than before. Make sure to go to a professional, otherwise follow the directions perfectly. I know this will work, but you'll have to wait a day in between washing and coloring because you apply the color to dry hair.

Try these steps, they should help ALOT!!

1. Get a trim..this gets all the dead ends and most of the damage off.

2. While your at the salon, have them do a conditioning treatment. They are really cheap, and they work wonders!!

3. Buy a good, moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Pantene Pro-V Sleek and Smooth is really good. It has wax in it, so it smoothes the hair cuticle. It does cause a build up after a while, so once a week, use a good cleansing shampoo to remove it so it wont weigh your hair down!! Also, use a good oil treatment (John Fredia Frizz-Ease Mirco-Oil Treatment is good, cheap, and comes in a three pack).

4. After towel drying, apply a anti-frizz serum (Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Anti-Frizz/Shine Serum is awesome). Apply to ends, and work your way up (dont put on your roots tho, it makes your hair greasy).

5. Apply your gel, mousse, or whatever else you use on your hair (anti-frizz products work really well at coating the cuticles).

6. Blowdry your hair, turnning the ends under. Using a flat iron on your ends will also smooth them out. Just be sure to use a heat protectant (Beyond the Zone Flat Iron Spray from Sally's Beauty Supply is GREAT and its smells like Fruit Loops, lol).

7. Use BioSilk Silk Therapy after you are through styling. You can get the generic at Wal-Mart or somewhere like that and it works just as great. It silkens your hair and repairs damage!!

When my hair is damaged and fried I use, these steps for a quick fix, and it really helps in the long run!! It makes your hair soft, silky, chiny, and very healthy (and healthy-looking) right away!! You will be picture perfect!!

Good luck on your pics!!

Totally fried? Wow, what did you do to it?
Anyway, to me totally fried is gummy in places, dry in others and brittle all over so here is what you need to do...
Go to Sally Beauty Supple and buy several protein packs and a deep moisturizing conditioner.
For 1 week, every day alternating conditioners apply them to your hair. Put a plastic cap or even a bag over the hair. Leave it on for 40 min hitting it with the hair dryer every so often to warm it up. The heat helps to open up the cuticle of the hair for deeper conditioning.
Since you said your hair is fried you need both types of conditioners because the work in different ways. The protein goes the hair strength while the moisturizer brings it back from its brittle ways. It is important to use both to totally treat the hair not just one symptom of over processed hair. Good Luck!

First, cut off as much as you can, or want, of the ends. Then, warm a little olive oil and let it on your hair for as long as you can. If there's no one watching you put a shower cap on... then wash your hair with warm water. Do it twice a week. Try to buy the best moisturizing shampoo and conditioner you can. If you want, you can buy Bain de Terre hair mascara, which i think is the one that works best, just remember to wash it thoroughly off, as buildup or conditioner residues can make hair look dull.

If it is fried from chemical treatments ( such as perm or straightening) using mayonnaise works. You apply it to your ends or to the trouble area. Wrap your head in plastic and leave it on for about half an hour. When you wash it out use cool water. There are eggs in mayonnaise and you don't want to cook them into your hair.

Apply a good conditioner. Wrap a hot towel around your hair. Cover with a plastic bag. Let sit for an hour. Shampoo out.

From your comment, you need some real attention and care for your hair, but since you have pictures coming up - buy a nice, becoming wig (or hair piece/ponytail). Then - rush yourself to a good sylist, talk to her about your hair and let her (or him) help you get your wonderful hair restored to the best condition possible. I have several wigs that I use. I sing and therefore, I can't always have 'freshly pressed' hair for stage performances, pictures, interviews, etc. But don't depend on them - get your locks handled....good luck. smile

I would try a hot oil treatment. It helps to restore your hair and makes it really soft. They're quick and inexpensive (around 3 to 5 dollars, at least where I live)

Cut off most of the split ends and then get it dyed with a hair treatment dye, also use a hair oil treatment to strengthen your hair!

go get some good conditioner-like Biolage ultra-hydrating conditioner.
use it every day!
also, put some on and don't rinse it out for a few hours...let it really soak in
i promise your hair will feel awesome!

do not use cheap conditioner--i promise it won't work for long...products like pantene only work for a while, then they end up doing more damage to your hair...
