He's probably just like you, or your regular friends. Homosexuals are people regardless of their gender. He isn't going to want to make cakes or visit lingerie shops. (I don't think anyway) Hes probably feeling as apprehensive as you are, never having met you. Just treat him the same way you would a hetero friend, and find out things from him, his likes, dislikes as you get to know him

Treat him like a human being. Watch his comfort levels and ask questions if you need to. It depends on the individual anyway. I'd rather go to a zoo than go shopping, personally. My husband would rather join me at the zoo than play football. Someone else would hate the zoo...lol.
Most people like movies of one kind or another. Pick a theatre with tons of movies, take him there, and let him pick the movie. This could also (maybe) give you some insight into what he likes. Seeing a movie together and grabbing a burger or something afterward will give you some common ground to talk about. After all, you did just share a 2 hour movie together!

I'd treat him like any other guy unless he asks to be treated differently. Remember that not all straight guys are macho he-man types, and not all gay guys are interior decorators. There are plenty of "metrosexual" straight men who like fashionable clothes and fine arts, as well as plenty of gay guys into football, hunting, Nascar, etc. Bowling sounds like a good opporunity to sound him out and find out what he might enjoy doing.

treat him like one of the guys. That is how I treat my gay buddies (as much as possible). That is how the gay guys I know want to be treated.

sometimes, guessing what the other person likes doesn't seem to work out so i suggest that you talk to him. not all gays like the same stuff, or do the same things. that's the problem with stereotypes though... but yeah, sit down with him, and talk. that way, you'll get to know each other better and you'll know where to take him and what to do when you're with him. :)

i would just take cues from him. i mean, if he was stright would you know how to entertain him? i doubt he would like to go shopping. take him to a game or something, everyone likes to be at events.
i hope this isn't sterotipacle....but i work at a grocery store and it just seems that the gay guys that go through my line really appriciate good food and good wine. just something i have noticed.

There is nothing wrong with being gay, treat him with respect like you would treat anybody else. I'm gay myself and all my friends treat me with respect.

just do what comes natural. Ask him what he wants to do. Most importantly, be open and honest.
