and yet these people try and convert the whole world. Why are people being converted if only 114,000 people get into heaven?

They do it so that people can understand the truth about them that they are from a FALSE religion that makes things up, and so that we can learn from their mistakes so that you don't follow their religion that makes it up as they go along their merry way.

Just to put it simple.

He talks about a Pre-tribulation Rapture and the Tribulation is that seven-year period of judgment on earth – Revelation chapters 6 to 18 – because we go up in chapter 4 and it only begins in chapter 6. We call it a pre-tribulation Rapture and the Rapture is I Thessalonians 4 verses 16 to 18, when the dead in Christ rise and the living go up with them to meet the Lord in the air and all in the twinkling of an eye, I Corinthians 15:52.

However, during the seven-year period of Tribulation, the greatest revival in history occurs as 144,000 evangelists swarm the world in Revelation 7 verses 4 to 8, and they are preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom – Matthew 24:14. The King is coming and a multitude like the sands of the sea, Revelation 7:9, is converted and verse 14 says, “They came out of the Great Tribulation and washed their robes, made them white in the blood of the Lamb." Because of it, death comes to those new converts during that seven-year period in Revelation 6:9, 13:50 and Revelation 20 verse 4. Now Christ comes back with His saints, Jude 14, and Daniel 12:2 - the Old Testament Jews are raised and at that point, all those who died during the Tribulation are also raised. I hope that answers your question.

Considering that only eight people since the time of Noah to the time of Jesus had not hardened their hearts to Gods love and were saved after death, a lot of people are gullible enough to take the challenge that the Jehovah Witnesses offer. That they are considered a cult because they discriminate against former members is not revealed to new members until its too late. Not even marriage bonds are sacred to them, if your one and your spouse has stopped believing you cannot even talk to them except in the presence of other members. Be with us or else seems to be their credo. A lot like the extreme Islamics, wouldn't you agree?

They're in trouble then. There's more than 114,000 Jehovah's Witnesses in the world.

In Revelations it specifies the number of people who will be saved (which I think is 144,000, or 12,000 from each tribe of Israel.) Keep in mind that this was written a long time ago, when 114,000 or 144,000 was a helluva lot of people - even Rome didn't have a population like that!

Because Jehovah's witnesses are a cult and they take things in the Bible out of context. They actually believe it's 144,000 but the 144,000 people the Bible talks about are the Jewish people that will be preaching GOD's word to the world after the rapture accrues.

Jehovah's Witnesses understand the Scriptures to teach that exactly 144,000 humans will join Christ Jesus as kings and priests to administer God's Kingdom (which will soon replace all earthly governments) after Armageddon.
(Daniel 2:44) God of heaven will set up a kingdom... It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite
(Revelation 14:1) Lamb [Jesus] standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand
(Revelation 20:6) they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and will rule as kings with him

Over whom will they rule? Over the vast majority of mankind, most of whom will have been raised from the dead after Armageddon.
(John 11:23,24) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”
(Acts 24:15) There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

Until that resurrection, there is no suffering in "hell", or the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire

Almighty Jehovah God selects those few who have the heavenly calling from among godfearing worshippers, including many who were never Jehovah's Witnesses. Today, each true worshipper "feels" his own hope and each person's hope remains unquestioned by his fellow Christians. Still the vast majority (literally more than 99.9%*) of Jehovah's Witnesses expect an EARTHLY hope, the same hope given to Adam and Eve.
(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill THE EARTH and subdue it [caps added]
(Genesis 2:17) You must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die [so never eating from that tree means never dying]

Interestingly, the Scriptures are full of references to this earthly hope.
(Psalms 37:11) 'the meek will possess the earth'
(Proverbs 2:21) 'upright will reside in the earth'
(Isaiah 45:18) 'God formed the earth to be inhabited'
(Matthew 5:5) 'the mild will inherit the earth'
(Revelation 21:3) The tent of God is with mankind

* The 99.9% of Jehovah's Witnesses professing an Earthly hope is a literal figure

Here is an interesting Yahoo Question and Answer which discuss how Jehovah's Witnesses know that the 144,000 figure is a literal one:

Who died and made them the authority? If there is one thing that I have learned in life is that human beings understanding of God has increased from time of creation to about 127 on a scale starting at 0. But the scale ranges from 0 to 5 million.

Barbie - you're too smart for your own good! You see them walking out in the neighborhoods in pairs, in dark clothes. They've been out in the sun too long, and ALL figure they're part of the 114,000!!

According to them...It's 144000 and they're in heaven to rule with Jesus (see Book of Revelation). All other righteous people get to become perfect and live forever on the earth which becomes a paradise.
