Rebates have no rules about this. You can cash the check. The only problem would be is if the person you sold it to wants a rebate... then they would not be able to get one since the Serial Number has already had a rebate associated with it.
I worked in a rebate center and we had these questions all the time. Go ahead and cash it.

i don't think so, i mean you just sold it. If you sold it 3 years down the road, you would of still had your rebate and gotton the 200$. unless when you bring it before God you don't feel right, pray about it

Not a sin. You just found a loophole to the whole rebate thing. You followed their rules, so you shouldn't feel guilty.

You got the check from a big corporation. The big corporation isn't going to go bankrupt from a $200.00 check. How does 200.00 affect your life? Will you be able to go to a nice dinner, buy a few CDs? That sounds like a lot more fun than being loyal, faithful and protective of a corporation.

Nah - who is getting hurt by that sin? The big scary monopolistic computer company or the big scary monopolistic computer store? Go for it - I'm sure you have more economic troubles than they do!
Or if you wanna be a REAL man, you can donate it to a charity - take your pick on the number of people who need it more than you do. ^_-

no. you payed full retail for it. then you resold it. if you would have returned the lap top and kept the rebate then you would be stealing from the company.
